He'll lock it into non-dst to the sun won't rise until 8:30 in the winter in the middle latitude states.
But dst doesn't change what the sun does. Just the arbitrary number us humans put on it. Not changing a pattern 2 times a year seems great! Who cares what number it is? I used to love in Minnesota, DST and short winter days, now I live in Arizona, we have plenty of sun and no DST. The sun rises at 5am in Arizona in the summer. But that changes nothing about my day.
Unfortunately, you're not the only person in the world. I'm super happy that your day doesn't start early enough for that to screw you over, or maybe you like getting up the pitch black, but the majority of Americans would like to have some morning light around Christmas.
DST changes nothing about the amount of light in a day though.
You sound like I'm saying it does, care to explain?
"Americans would like to have morning light around Christmas ". No law or number we call time changes the sunlight. Just the arbitrary number we assign to the time
Hmmm, Tell me you think I'm too stupid to breathe without telling me I'm too stupid to breathe, Nice one!
I Hope to God that you are just trolling at this point, because for you to come to that conclusion from what I said would be seriously embarrassing on your behalf.
When you change the local timezone by an hour the schools end businesses open up an hour later compared to the rise of the Sun.
We're almost to the equinox, I'm in a middle latitude, as are better than 2/3 of US population. College and high school education systems all seem to start activating around 7:00 a.m. many businesses have their employees commense prep for the day around that time as well. When I drive my kid to school at 7:00 in the morning, it's just barely light. That means that everyone that gets up by 7:00 in the morning has a little bit of light on the roads this time of year. Lowering the number of groggy early a.m. traffic accidents and providing a little bit of security to the kids waiting around outside the school so they're not standing around in the the dark.
If you do not kick in DST it doesn't start getting light until 8:00. New York City, a seriously populated area starts to get light around 7:12 which is in the same range. They're not going to see the light are dawn until 8:12.
I don't care for the time to go back and forth so I'd rather we just stick right to DST. Permanently afix EST to -4. And have the rest of the time zones adjusted accordingly.
Right now every business and government entity starts at a certain hour of the day. They do not adjust that time for summer versus winter, because we take care of it in the system. In the case of middle and northern latitudes they start at an earlier hour than they would otherwise because of daylight savings time.
If we just permanently turn off DST, a not insignificant portion of these businesses and government entities (But not a majority) will change their schedules to go later. Mass transportation will go to hell. School bus traffic will collide with business traffic and everything that anyone knew about what time things open and shut would be out the window.
Jeez I'm not calling you stupid. Changing the time twice a year has quite a few detrimental effects on people too. I'm not saying anything about how some people like DST. All I'm saying is it never changes the amount of daylight, regardless of sticking to DST or not. If the time never changes business and schools will change their opening times(this is an assumption , obviously this is not guaranteed)And most of the US doesn't have any public transportation so that's already shit anyway haha.
