Al Gore’s loss happened when I was in high school. I couldn’t (or if I could I didn’t know I could) vote at that time, but I distinctly remember hoping for Gore even though I thought Bush had a cooler name (Middle school. Priorities were not great lol)
This is the first I’ve heard about WHY Gore lost. Never looked it up.
So thank you for the small history lesson.
haha, yeah for sure.
it's an absolutely crazy story, probably the first time I was like wait, the Supreme Court can Just do whatever they want, including change the result of the presidential election?
Why would they do that?
and then 20 years of civil rights being stripped away by the Supreme Court happened and it became undeniable that the SC were a conservative tool rather than a balanced judicial body.
