I was planning to use Windows 10 at first just because of the sheer amount of others also using it, but after hearing a plethora of complaints about windows and the fact that they are forcing users to upgrade, I'm a bit doubtful.

I have heard many positive things about Linux though, but I'm wondering if the setup will be more difficult and if it'll block me from doing things since everything is catered towards Windows.

Linux imo.

Windows 10 is no good, sadly. It's no longer getting support from MS so it's going to become increasingly vulnerable to shenanigans.

Rip the bandage off and go Linux. It'll hurt at first but being freed of MS is hard to put a price on. They're talking this Recall nonsense now, who knows what they'll push in Windows 13 or 14.
