As a dog person I see cats as being apathetic towards their owners. Oh you arrived from work or a 3 month holiday, well I do not really care.

Where my dogs in my mind, which is based entirely on my feelings, will take a bullet for me if they could.

Nah, cats can be just as dedicated to their owners as dogs. I think they just have different body language that most people aren't really as in tune to as with dogs.

For example, when cats glare at you with a kind of disinterested look, blinking slowly etc., that's actually an expression of trust for cats. I know my cat also gets extremely excited to see me every time I come home and hangs out on the porch with me after work each day.

the common saying is that cats are introverts and dogs are extroverts: cats show love by magically always being in the same room as you (including the toilet), dogs show affection by screaming "I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU" repeatedly until you go deaf all the while jumping off the walls because they're just so excited that you still exist.

My cats miss me if I go to the bathroom.

If I'm gone a week they won't leave my side when I get home.

When I wake up, they wait for me at the stairs and we go out for coffee and a smoke.

My big girl sleeps with me all night.

They might not take a bullet for me, but they'd definitely bug me for treats as I bleed out.

Yup, my cat will sit at the bathroom door and guard me whenever I use the restroom or take a shower and she has her own little cat bed next to my pillow so she can sleep by me at night.

Yep, mine is always waiting right outside the door.

When I shower she sits in between the liner and the curtain waiting

And they’ll eat you once you finish bleeding out, no better treat than fresh meat, no greater love than chompies.

My cat is not like that at all. He's in the same room as me most of the time. He sleeps on my bed the whole night. Every day, when I come home, he waits at the door and immediately starts headbutting my leg once I sneak one through the door frame. I can't even take a dump without him meowing behind the door, asking to be let in, so we can hang out.

He's also a huge jerk, of course, but a wonderful chap overall.

Cats can be affectionate. They provide entertainment too. I like it when my cat Somes to sit on my lap when I'm reading a book, or snuggled up i bed when it's cold at night.

I admire dog people for being able to give their pets all the attention they need, go for walks, clean after them. some times I don't have the time to give enough attention to my cat when he wants to play.

My cat used to try to defend me from neighbors I didn’t like. When they got out of their car, she’d get between me and the window and stare, hackles up, softly growling at them until they were inside the building, then she’d go to the door until they were in their apartment.

She also sat purring on my chest 90% of the time I was sick with covid. Whenever I got up for more than twenty minutes, she’d start yowling at me to lie down again and she’d only quiet down when she could curl up on my chest again(it was honestly not ideal to have that extra weight, but she’s only 4kg/9lbs).

She also only gets on my lap if I’m wearing thick pants or have something over me, because she doesn’t like hurting me while kneading, but can’t stop kneading and drooling when she’s in my lap ❤️(she’s insanely smart, it’s actually a problem sometimes).

I grew up with dogs and definitely used to think cats were always aloof, but they’re really different once you get to know them well
