According to the New Zealand Herald, the two women took some children to see Despicable Me 4 at Cinema 3 in Pukekohe, North Island.

I read that as Pukehole at first and thought "that was uncalled for."

I love that it's listed as Pukekohe, North Island, like Auckland has disowned them so they needed some other way to describe the region.

I imagine that quite a few Pukekohe residents would bristle at being called Auckland.

I wouldn't call them Auckland City, but they are definitely in the Auckland Region.

I guess it might be a bit like saying Masterton is in Wellington. It's technically true, it's in the Wellington region, but you wouldn't typically say Masterton, Wellington. However, you also wouldn't normally say Masterton, North Island 😆.
