I’m just waiting for him to do something stupid enough in a ketamine-fueled fit of pique that the DoD and/or NASA swoops in and nationalizes SpaceX as a strategic national concern.

Nationalizing SpaceX would risk destroying the company structure and culture which made SpaceX successful in the first place. A government-run SpaceX would never pursue an ambitious project like Starship.

A safer option would be to find a similar visionary to fill the CEO role who is a bit less... you know. I wonder if Gwynne Shotwell (current COO) could take over as CEO if Elon goes further off the deep end?

Moving SpaceX to Austin would risk destroying the company structure and culture which made SpaceX successful in the first place, and yet here we are.

I agree that giving it to Shotwell would probably be a better shoo-in in terms of a mandated CEO adjustment.
