J.D. Vance has joined the chorus of conservatives who have begun claiming that President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race constitutes a so-called “coup” in the Democratic Party.

In an interview filmed on Saturday with Fox News’s Jesse Watters, a clip of which aired on Fox & Friends Monday morning, Watters asked former President Donald Trump and his newly minted running mate, Vance, the new question plaguing Republicans: “Is it a coup against Joe Biden?” Both of them fumbled their answers.

“Uh, sort of,” Trump said unsure, looking over to Vance for explanation.

It's a coup for the VP to take over for the President?

Would it be a coup if Biden died today and she became president? That's literally how it's supposed to happen according to the constitution.

Stupid fucking republicans.

If I say the word coup enough, it starts to lose any meaning.

"I'm really hungry today. I think I'll get a coup d'etat burger and fries, please"

That's exactly it. They want it normalized and watered down. It's the same projection they use constantly.

No, no, it’s supposed to happen by violent insurrection during the certification of the election and by violently hanging the vice president in front of the Capitol building!

/s, obviously

He's not saying it to rally up his base, he's saying it so when the DNC appoints her at the convention the democratic voters get all pissed off because they never cast a vote with her at the top of the ticket. Hopefully, the democrats aren't as dumb as his party and don't fall for it. His motivations are not because it's a coup against them, he's pretending it's a coup for the democratic nomination so we get all mad at each other.
