Ukraine seeks to join NATO because Russia threatens invasion.

Russia threatens Ukraine that if they join NATO they will invade. (as Ukraine is slowly being invaded by Russia's unmarked troops, BTW)

Ukraine pledges to Russia they won't so long as Russia doesn't invade.

Russia invades anyway.

Meanwhile Russia never attacks a NATO country. Golly, I wonder why.
