Lol deception aside, good on anon opponent for pivoting from mildly toxic to totally wholesome on a dime.
I don't really have any interest in online competitive gaming, but messaging an opponent to tell them they suck after you beat them badly doesn't really seem to follow the precepts of sportsmanship.
Hence “mildly toxic”.
I don't really consider that mild.
You think “u suck bro” isn’t mild?
Oh my sweet summer child…
It's almost like the fact that the people who participate in online competitive gaming being complete shitstains (and it being completely normalized) is a big reason why I have no interest in online competitive gaming.
Okay, I really don’t see how it’s that bad tbh. I’ve never messaged anyone like that or been toxic, but it’s so mild…
I also don’t think it’s been “normalized”, it’s just really not a big deal. I don’t know why anyone would be that bothered by it and think they’re a complete shitstain.
It's absolutely normalised. Imagine saying this in any other circumstance playing a game with a stranger.
That this is mild for gaming doesn't mean it isn't toxic as fuck.
Yeah, it’s hard to imagine two strangers sitting at a chessboard at the park when one goes “LOL checkmate d00d u suck bro!!”. People are far more willing to be toxic arseholes when they don’t have to look the other person in the eye. Anonymity allows for the worst behaviour a person can engage in - just look at platforms with forced anonymity like 4chan. The more anonymous you are, the more of a dick you’re willing to be.
Obviously people have said and do say much worse things, but at least most of the time it's in-game, it's pretty shitty to DM someone instead.
I consider DMing your opponent after the match bad
Yes I think we are in agreement.
