In the run up to the elections, Anwar has again been accused by critics of not doing enough to protect the rights of Muslims in multi-racial, multi-faith Malaysia.

So basically the "progressive" incumbent Malay government is posturing as "see, we don't support gay rights" ahead of the elections to win back some of the conservative Muslim votes.

Once again the transparent scam of organized religion just has to scapegoat an easily identified out-group so that con-men in funny clothes can rise to power by pretending to restore "social order".
