I don't know if they'll ever actually fix this. Seems like it would require either making the resupply non-climbable, which would be different than most everything else that height. Or would require making a separate button required for climbing, which would probably annoy a lot of people who are used to just using sprint.
I don't know how they'd fix it without screwing something else up.
I just want them to add an option to turn off autovault, it drives me nuts. There have been too many times where I'm running by a toxk for cover but I get 1 cm too close and now I'm hopping over the rock and getting gunned down
TLDR:
An option to only climb by pressing space bar maybe? I'd definitely give manual vaulting/climbing a try.
I do believe you can choose to bind sprint and vault separately, but that may only be the case for PC on M&KB
Using separate binds doesn't solve the issue though. I have Sprint bound to Press Shift and Climb bound to Press Space Bar, but I still auto-climb anything (including supply pods) when I'm sprinting. I'd give my left nut for an option to disable auto-climb when sprinting.
Wow, you are correct. I assumed that binding climb would prevent auto-climb, but there's no specific option for that. Very bizarre that they would go halfway and then not let you disable it manually when the rest of the control options are decently deep.
I've got dive as press space and climb as hold space. The ability to do things like that in this game is why it's amazing. Having a toggle for auto climb with sprint enabled lines up with that philosophy.
