Same, I hated how even after turning Windows updates off it would update and mysteriously ruin something with my productivity. All I wanted was to turn off updates during weekdays but Windows does what it wants.

Switched to Ubuntu at that time and not only were updates faster, they didn't break my flow. It really felt like the way a computer should, rather than a phone OS with mouse and keyboard support.
