(I am an author of this game. I am not a shill, game is 100% free, there is no premium content, full game is avalaible without paying - this is work of passion and feedback is my main motivation).

"Dominion of Darkness” is a strateg/RPG text game in which the player takes on the role of a Sauron-style Lord of Darkness with the goal of conquering the world. He will carry out his plans by making various decisions. He will build his army and send it into battles, weave intrigues and deceptions, create secret spy networks and sectarian cults, recruit agents and commanders, corrupt representatives of Free Peoples and sow discord among them, collect magical artifacts and perform sinister plots. Note – one game takes about 1 hour, but the premise is that the game can be approached several times, each time making different decisions, getting different results and discovering something new.

Game is avalaible for free, online: https://adeptus7.itch.io/dominion

I am constantly improving the game, adding new content and mechanics, so Your feedback would matter.

If you are hesitant to play the game, I invite you to watch/listen to the reviews:

Anybody playing this game? I got it a while back on Steam and can't believe I've been sleeping on it. It's oddly relaxing and fast paced at times; requires thought but also is mentally relaxing. 9/10 great fun game that allows exploring without hand holding

A great game, and a massive patch list. Could be good fun for a returning player, or new players.

For those that haven't tried this game, it's very addictive and very fun. I've got 150+ hours on it, and I'm not done yet. Good fun as multiplayer too!

Give it a try if you like challenging, but fair platform games with a fairly unique mechanic.

The game probably needs no introduction, but hey, a story generator sim colony type game.

Bizarre and lots of fun. Whether it's getting attacked by pirates, or angry rats, fighting infections or drug addictions to save your colonists. I feel a little part of me dies every time I lose a colonist. Intense.

I'm 83 hours in, and barely getting started. It's wonderful.

Have you played RimWorld? How long for? Any interesting stories? (the steam reviews are a gold mine for this)

Absolute bargain price if you ask me. Played over 250 hours of Valheim. A great immersive game, and at this price, a bit too good to say no to if you haven't tried it.

Highly recommend.

I absolutely love this game, and the music always makes me smile. The main tune is one of the best game songs I know :).

To oversimplify, it's Theme Hospital for adults. Complex, serious, and some times stressful when you have a collapsed patient. I end up favouriting my collapsed patients as I really need to know they get better and make it out ok.

I have 70+ hours play time from this. Really well made game. Needs more love.

Have you played it? What did you think?

Sharing this because it's a game I've played and enjoyed. Multiplayer isn't there and local co-op is buggy, but pretty fun for single player.

Stardewesque, but all about managing your own tavern.

I mean, we've all seen some hype around recently about games in the genre, and I wanted to share this because it's awesome. Been playing it recently, and it definitely scratches that Pokemon itch, while being unique in its own right. Made with a lot of love, and also on Godot. What's not to like?!

Have you played it? What do you think?

So I've been working part time for a few years on a sci-fi themed game called Veridian Expanse. It's a bit of a mashup of exploration, metroidvania, and crafting games where you are trapped inside of an asteroid. You can download the latest dev build from itch.io for Windows, Linux, and Raspberry Pi 4:

https://howlingmoonsoftware.itch.io/veridian-expanse

I've been making dev builds for a while, but I'm starting to get more serious about getting feedback. Also... as a solo dev I have no idea how to tell people about my game, so I'm starting in cozy places like Lemmy and Mastodon. :) Anyway, if people want to give it a go and let me know what you think I'd be super grateful. :D

More links:

Fun Fact: The game's source is GPLed! I'm guessing 99% of people don't care, but I don't see any downsides of doing this when I don't plan to use DRM anyway. I can't imagine it will hurt sales. On the other hand, maybe someone will use it to play the game on OpenBSD, Haiku, or some OS that doesn't exist yet.

Get Celeste, Baba is You, A Short Hike, Minit and many other indie games while supporting charity.

Interactive fiction at a solo dev scale is often really really linear. This game structures around that well, I felt -- the repetitive nature of what you're doing is the point, what makes it meaningful even in the absence of alternative choice.
