Hello, im pretty sure this is a Cpu bottleneck but need more confirmation from more expert people.

Judging from the screenshots i have taken from ratchet rift apart and black ops 6 i think i have a cpu bottleneck when i should be getting way more frames with the rx 7900 gre that i just upgraded from a rx 6650 xt. i kept the ryzen 5 5600 thinking it would be enough for the 7900 gre, i did google it before buying it seeing if it could be a problem after purchase but there was not enough information on the topic for me to be sure so i bought the card anyways. i have a 1440p monitor so i always game at that resolution. from the screenshots i get the bottleneck at 1440p on both games with gpu utlization at 70 to 80 and cpu from 60 to 70 per cent. although when i switch to 4k gpu is always at 99 per cent and cpu around 50 per cent. i did the method online to use intels tool to check gpu busy and average frame time and there is a deviation in those numbers at 1440p and numbers are basically equal at 4k. also attached my pc specs. Should i upgrade my cpu this black friday to maybe like a 5800x3d or something similar that wont bottleneck or save the money since i just purchased a 560 euros card and didnt want to spend anymore. or maybe i am wrong and this aint no bottlecek at all. some weird stuff did happen with black ops 6 where only windowed would go at the 120 fps it showed while in fullscreen it said 120 fps but it was choppy and it felt more like 60. i reinstalled the drivers and it fixed it so its not a driver issue. Would like some help from you knowledgeble folks on what advice you have for me in the future.

Thanks

My PC has been having an issue where while I am playing games the screen will go black for about a second randomly. Audio still goes through and I can still give inputs through my mouse and keyboard. My specs are as follows AMD Ryzen 9 5900X Nvidia 4080 GPU and 32GB of Ram. The problem originally only occurred while playing league of legends however it has started occurring on other games. My drivers are up to date.

Fellow Redditors,

I'm updating my build and would love some feedback. Here’s what I'm planning:

| As-is | To-Be | |

|

| | CPU | AMD Ryzen 7 5800X | | Motherboard | ASUS ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING WIFi | | GPU | AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT | | RAM | CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB PRO 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DRAM DDR4 @ 3600MHz | | AIO Cooling | NZXT Kraken Z63 280mm | | PSU | NZXT C850 | | Storage | 2 x Samsung 990 PRO NVMe M.2 SSD 1TB PCIe 4.0 | | Extra | TP-Link TX401 PCIe 10Gbps | | Case | CORSAIR CRYSTAL 570X RGB |

Currently, I have the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and plan to order the rest of the parts - excluding the RTX 5080, of course - during Black Friday/Cyber Monday. I’m also definitely switching from AMD to NVIDIA for my GPU.

I’ve included the TP-Link TX401 PCIe 10Gbps network card because I have a 10Gbps ISP connection, and my modem has a 10G LAN port. I’m not going for the MSI GODLIKE X870E motherboard just for the built-in 10G Ethernet, as the standalone network card covers that need.

Regarding the AIO cooler, I’m deciding between the NZXT Kraken Elite 360 RGB and the CORSAIR iCUE LINK TITAN 360 RX RGB. I think the NZXT has a sleeker look, but is that the only reason for the price difference?

I’m aiming for 2K at 165 FPS (VSync 165Hz) on Ultra settings for current games and those coming out in the next couple of years. For context, I also own a Meta Quest 3 and mostly play PCVR games via AirLink (WiFi 6E).

Your feedback would be much appreciated 🙏

Debating about playing around with some Aliexpress parts just for fun. Later on down the road, how likely is it to get support, like finding bios downloads? It's not like gigabyte or asrock where they have an easily accessible long list of models.

New to building PCs. Was looking at getting a 7800x3d but now that there is the 9800 series I am conflicted. I plan on playing a lot of sim heavy games (Cities Skylines 2, Civ 7 (when it comes out), planet coaster 1/2) and have always heard a better CPU is better for these games (though would still want to get around to BG3 and CP2077 too).

I found a 7800x3d for $370. If I went for the 9800x3d, I would probably get it through the microcenter bundle priced at $670 ($470 for the CPU + mobo + 32gb ram). I game on a 1080p ultra widemonitor and don't plan on upgrading it to 1440 anytime soon. I was going to pair it with a 7800xt.

Any reason I should pick the 9800x3d over the 7800x3d? Downside to the 9800x3d if that I'm locked into the microcenter mobo + ram and would have a preference in picking those parts myself, but if the 9800x3d would make that big of a difference I could stomach having those parts selected for me.

Thanks in advance.

This is my current build that i bought in 2020: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6bkV3w

I'm looking to upgrade my GPU now and the rest of my rig in a year or two.

Would this be a good upgrade? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pRT6MC Will the CPU hold back the graphics card? Is my psu strong enough? All suggestions are appreciated!

Got a problem, looking for solution.

So the proplem is:

When i shut down my pc via windows, all looking good. All turned off as usual.

But when i starting my PC via button on front pannel - it's dead, not booting at all, no sound, no coolers no led, nothing, and Bios FlashBack LED staring blinking green on back pannel. Constantly.

If i turned off PSU - Led turned off too, when i turn ON PSU - Led staring blinking again, and Power button on Front pannel still not working.

When my PC turned off, and FlashBack LED blinking, if i press RESET BIOS button, on back panel - my PC starting, and i can run bios, save and restart and its loading windows after that like usual. But when i turn of again - all repeat.

So in this case i can only start my PC with RESET BIOS button.

Since its blinking - i was thinking about update - i updated via EzFlash in bios, its now latest version. But still same problem - blinking and not running with power button.

I found small solution how to start PC. So, i turned off pc in windows. Then turn of PSU power. waiting till my MB have no power, till flashback LED stop blinking. Then i turn ON PSU and Instantly press power ON button on front panel (before bios flashback led started blinking), and all starting good, as usual, all working, not crashing. Windows, games, videos, tests all working fine. Hibernation and Restart working fine from windows, it's just happens when i turn off pc.

It's just started randomly. all was working fine for 1+ year, and just one morining it's just didnt started with button.

my setup:

ASUS ROG STRIX Z790-h GAMING WIFI DDR5

CPU : INTEL 13700K

RAM : G.Skill DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) 7600Mhz Trident Z5

GPU : ASUS ROG STRIX 3060ti 8GB

PSU : Raidmax Cobra RX-1200AE-B

Edit: found absolutely same problem on asus forum, but not solved =\

I’ve been running this build for about a year now almost and I’m just curious, how “future proof” my build is or could be. I’ve been able to do run a lot at 1440P and hit more than 100FPS on many single player games and even multiplayer. Let me know what you guys think!

Specs: GPU: Radeon RX 7900GRE 16GB CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X RAM: 2x8GB 16GB 3200MHZ

I’ve been told that I should consider upgrading my CPU to be aligned with my GPU’s performance but I’m not too sure it would be worth the money, considering the performance increase won’t be that huge

Hello, pc building noobie here. I am currently building a PC and have a Ryzen 5 7600X and was wondering if an NZXT Kraken X53 240mm is enough for the CPU? I am unfamiliar, so any answers or suggestions for a better cooler would be appreciated. Thank you!

I tried to turn on my PC, and only the lights came on, along with the fans and CPU fans, but I didn’t hear the startup beep, and the monitor didn’t turn on. I tried turning it off using the power button, but it wouldn’t shut down, so I had to flip the switch on the back and try again. The same problem occurred. I then unplugged the PC, held the power button for a few seconds, and reconnected the GPU and PSU cables. I checked all the connections, flipped the switch on the back, and tried turning it on again, but this time there were no signs of life. Nothing happened at all. I then tried plugging the power cord into a different socket, but still no signs of life. I’m not sure what the issue is

PC Specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G GPU: XFX Radeon RX 6700 XT PSU: 600W Apevia Prestige RAM: 16GB Motherboard: Gigabyte B450M Storage: 250GB NVMe SSD, 1TB HDD, 500GB external HDD

Hey all, I'm not very tech savvy when it comes to PCs, so all help is appreciated.

My PC seems to be stuck in limbo right now. After initially powering on my PC today, where I had waited 5 minutes for it to boot, I reset it. I was then put into the BIOS. I left the BIOS with no changes and then it got caught in a loop of constantly powering itself on and off. I cut the power off via the power surge protector it was connected to, and powered it on again, where it's now stuck. It's on, as in, the fans and lights all work, but it won't boot up and there is no display on my monitor. My mouse and keyboard are not powered either, which signals to me that the PC isn't fully "on". Restarting after this point has done nothing, and I'm unsure on how to proceed. Specs below:

RTX 3060

Ryzen 7 5800x

MSI PRO B550M VC Wifi

how big of an fps difference will there be if I use an rtx 3060 at 1080p (current) vs an rx 6800 at 1440p (future) I know the rx 6800 is better but I'm gonna use it at 1440p so it'll have less fps than if it was used at 1080p. so how much of an fps difference will there be? also, I'm gonna play games like rdr2, witcher 3, ghost of tsushima

I was initially thinking I was just going to AM5 and be ready for whenever the next upgrade time is, but this deal is tempting. Thoughts?

Edit- the only thing I'm definite on is 7900 xt or 7900 gre, depending on what I find

Please don't post involved questions that are better suited to a [Build Help], [Build Ready] or [Build Complete] post. Examples of questions suitable for here:

  • Is this RAM compatible with my motherboard?
  • I'm thinking of getting a ≤$300 graphics card. Which one should I get?
  • I'm on a very tight budget and I'm looking for a case ≤$50

Looking at the new 5070 it will have the power of the 4080 but only 12gb vram and will probably cost £750

I will make a loss of £300 if I sale my 3070 msi supreme and buy an msi gaming x slim super for £580 about the price I paid for my 3070 on release ?

Title. I've had a 7900X for a while now on an AM5. It works great for gaming and for work, do not really have any issues with it.

The benchmarks for the 9800X3D seem really good so far, I like what I see, but realistically, will I actually see any improvement if I upgrade? I feel like I am just falling for the hype. FYI I have a 7900XTX GPU and I game on 1440p.

My instinct tells me not to do it, but I'm curious to hear from others.
