It was a sword and sorcery type film from the 80s that was on TV. The protagonist had a magic bow, and I think the antagonist had a magic axe? And the magic came from some tattoos or something they had on them that glowed. Anyone know what movie this was?

I think it should. Has it defederated and does it plan to?

Something others don't know about you, perhaps.

I'm currently on Connect for Lemmy and I mostly like it but it's buggy (new app so I'll be forgiving - but once you search for something you can't back out unless you close the app). Summit is fine but there's no way to see your profile and jerboa doesn't seem to have a way to log in.

I know it's early days but are there any other well rounded apps I should try?

Edit: I'm a dummy, in Jerboa there is a down Caret next to "anonymous" at the top on the slide out menu. That's how you log in

Nothing specific, I'm hoping for the opposite. Something most people either aren't familiar with and/or just something you enjoy.

I'm very OOTL when it comes to a lot of the major divides in online communities because thankfully I've managed to avoid most of the arguing. I've noticed a lot of instances say "no tankies" as one of their first rules and figured this might be the only place I could get a real answer.

Was there something specific they did to piss off everyone? If I had to take a shot in the dark, are they just people who are really pro-military?

When I was a kid I thought the quarter machines at the laundromat literally transmuted your dollar bills into quarters. What's something silly you believed as a kid?

Is anyone here signed up on multiple instances? Is there a reason why you'd want to do this?

Hello fellow beehawers,

There are some niche communities I follow with only rare new posts. Since the posts are rare I most times miss them between my more active subscriptions.

Hence, it would be nice if I could have several separated subscription folders. Like folder1 with community 1,2,3 and folder2 with 4,5,6 etc. With this, I could easily swap between niche and active communities.

Is something like this possible on Lemmy or in planning? The more inconvenient option would be to create several different accounts.

For me, it was a pair of merrell shoes on sale. They have lasted 3+ years, have great grip in the snow and ice, and so comfortable, my feet don't hurt after wearing all day.

Never cheap out on anything that comes between you and the ground; shoes, tires, a bed.

What have been some of your good purchases under $100?

I think I understand how the federation system works currently and I'm not sure if I think this is a good thing, but why does federation require the entire link between communities to be broken?

Like say that Community A wants to block out Community B. That's fine, but can Community B still see posts on A? And if not, why not?

And to go further, if I'm part of Community A and I still want to interact with Community B, why can't I? Like is there a reason for forcing users to only interact with communities that are federated?

Again, I understand there are restrictions with data and how things currently work. I'm just asking from an abstract perspective about the fundamental ideas.

I see Apollo and I’m not sure if I want to delete it.

I’m not sure why. I guess I’m kinda hoping there is some update to it that adds some functionality, but I guess that’s not really in the cards.

Anyone else not deleting their third party app for a reason?

I get the feeling that Lemmy has a relatively higher concentration of Linux users. I'm preparing to move over to Linux when I build my new computer. I already put Linux Mint Cinnamon edition on one of my old laptops and I like it quite a bit. I figure that since I've been wanting to switch over for years, I should just do it. The games were the thing holding me back, and Proton seems to have taken care of that(I don't really play multiplayer games that require anticheat... I'm a singleplayer kind of girl).

For me, anyway, I want to switch because Windows has been creeping me out with its telemetry. Windows 11 looks lousy, and I'd have to jump through some hoops to get my old hardware on 11, anyway.

My account was recently banned from privacy (dot) com for some nebulous "violation of terms of service" after I changed my email over from gmail to protonmail.

I've used it for dropout.tv and sirius xm (this one because the way to cancel is nuts), as well as a few instagram based stores that sell things like tshirts and such that were just a little bit on the shady side for how it was thrown together. They quite literally advertise that this is the use case for their service, even on their twitter they'll retweet out users.

I have no idea what I even did because they won't give me details, but the only recent (within 6 months) thing is changing the email. So I'm guessing protonmail kicks up some fraud thing in their system.

I was just wondering if anyone had any services that mimic their virtual/masked card service. I did look into ironvest, but how little I've used privacy over the past 8 or so years isn't really worth the $5 a month that it costs.

Beehaw kind of seems like a resurrection of the spirit of Imzy. I was sad when it shut down. Very happy Beehaw exists.
