Basically I want to hide that all info next to that pencil icon. That info is shown only after I enable developers options in settings.

Any ADB command or Setting in Android?

i've been trying to get rid of non-foss garbage as much as possible but i haven't found anything to replace the microsoft launcher yet, a few good candidates but they were all either underbaked or too unstable to use. Any suggestions?

In today’s post, we will dive deep into many of the issues with Apple’s iOS, what it takes to migrate from iOS to a little-known alternative called GrapheneOS, and why you might want to do so.

As you can see in the screenshot, inside the Photo Picker in the Albums view only "Screenshots" is shown while in Photos view all the pictures are available in chronological order.

By looking it up, I found people complaining the same issue and one suggesting adding them with Google Photos (which I don't have and I don't want to install).

Just wanted to know if someone else here got the same issue or if there is a workaround/fix for this.
(I'm on GrapheneOS)

Thanks

I have tried a few but they all seem to be putting the priority on features I don't need, like recording the sounds while I sleep. I would just like a log of when I fall asleep and when I wake up.

EDIT: Here is my plan B, until I find an app: when I go to bed, I send a text message to myself. When I wake up, I do the same. It gets automatically time-stamped. Example:

"Ok Google, send a text saying Good Night to NemoWuming"

"Ok Google, send a text saying Good Morning to NemoWuming"

LibreTube - uses Piped as video source by default. Subscriptions and playlists can be created, all without actually interacting with YouTube.

Clipious - uses Invidious as the video source. Also allows for subscribing and accounts. Lesser known client

NewPipe - Gets the source directly from YT. Allows for subscribing and creating playlists

Additionally, there's also ReVanced that lets you patch the regular YT app to include useful features.

In its services and repair terms and conditions, Google says it will keep devices sent in for repair if they have a non-OEM part.

Update:

Google changes repair policy after criticism of third-party parts ban Google previously said it would not return mailed-in devices using "unauthorized" parts.

I keep pressing this button with my mouth, because I find it satisfying. But every time I do, the music I'm listening to unsurprisingly stops.

So I came to ask if there's a way to turn this function off, I rarely use it anyway.

btw, i listen to my music using vlc media player on android, but somethimes i use spotify too.

So I have Tasker and I'm a total novice with it.

I'd like to create a simple task that shows the auto-rotate icon in my status bar when auto-rotate is on. Then when it's turned back off, make the icon disappear.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This ability to edit RCS — not SMS — is rolling out to stable starting today, but all the Google Messages users in a conversation need to have it enabled.

I've tried a lot of the launchers I see talked about frequently- Nova, Niagra, Smart Launcher, Action Launcher, etc. but they all seem to not be worth the hassle of switching away from pixel launcher. Also none of them have the Google News feed that the pixel launcher has. I feel like I'm losing features when I switch. Perhaps I'm just stupid and am not utilizing the features these launchers actually bring to the table.

Can you tell me about your favorite launcher and it's features that keep you hooked to it? Thanks.

Sorry for a kinda clickbait title but it is what it is. I just watched a video about Android 15 changes and a lot of them are either not important or straight up bad.

I want to specifically mention increased background sensor usage (such as microphone) and the Find My Device network. These are serious privacy issues that just make lives of custom ROM developers and users harder by having to disable more and more stuff (that's turned on by default of course), as well as a contribution to ewaste generation and general decrease of battery life.

I guess we are getting into the era of complete death of digital privacy and absolute surveillance. This is scary but not too unrealistic I guess. I just hope the devs of privacy-focused ROMs will be able to do something about it and purge these changes.

It looks like a very well built app to convert web pages to lite apps. It also seems to be based on Firefox and seems to include something similar to that of Firefox Multiaccount Containers for every webapp, on top of an adblocker. Seems very neat. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about whether or not it is open source and how the privacy and security potentially is?

Edit: I am aware of Native Alpha but it is very ugly with bad interface and hasn't been updated in two years, and also doesn't really sandbox apps to my knowledge like this does.

Google appears to have quietly rolled out a feature to the Play Store that allows users to remotely uninstall apps from other devices.

Hiya, am thinking about removing the stock android launcher on my Pixel 7a, due to a bug causing one of the three navigation buttons to randomly not work, more about the bug here; https://lemmy.world/post/10555733. So was wondering if anyone had any experience regarding this? I know how to remove it, just want to know what the potential consequences would be. I thought of having 2 launchers available, should the main one I use not work (for whatever reason). Please let me know if you have done this before and how it went :)

Hi everyone. You can easily add a website shortcut to the home screen through a browser ("add to home screen"). However, if I change browser or if I need to clear the browser data, these links disappear. Maybe I'm using too unstable of a browser, but I'm tired of having to recreate my shortcuts.

Is there any way of adding a website shortcut to the home screen in a browser-agnostic way?
