Also learned about the slave trade and the civil war, and then politics right up until the 20th century. May have helped that my home town had a small, but important role in early colonization.

E-Reader, I've put hours and hours into that thing and it's still going strong. Maybe I'll upgrade it at some point, but it's showing no signs of ageing yet. I love reading, but I don't have space for a huge library of books (believe me I wish I did).

The accent? It's the Mid-Atlantic accent that a lot of old actors were trained to speak with. In more modern times, people have just started using their natural accent or an accent that better fits the character they are portraying.

It's similar to the Received Pronunciation you'd hear older British people using (eg how the Queen used to talk).
