Oof. Oh well, at least they’re getting recognized I guess.

Grew up in the UK in the 80s and 90s, and had comprehensive education on US history, including the Revolution. Also learned about the slave trade and the civil war, and then politics right up until the 20th century. May have helped that my home town had a small, but important role in early colonization.

This, I work for a company that deals in very sensitive data. Grab my camera, snap a few pics and spend the rest of my days in Federal prison. Let's not do that.

E-Reader, I've put hours and hours into that thing and it's still going strong. Maybe I'll upgrade it at some point, but it's showing no signs of ageing yet. I love reading, but I don't have space for a huge library of books (believe me I wish I did).

I'm a white man who falls into that category, I'd never own a Tesla, they're too fucking expensive. Maybe I'll get an EV some day, but it won't be a Tesla. For now, I'll stick to my 6 year old car that still runs well and didn't cost me a second mortgage.

The accent? It's the Mid-Atlantic accent that a lot of old actors were trained to speak with. In more modern times, people have just started using their natural accent or an accent that better fits the character they are portraying.

It's similar to the Received Pronunciation you'd hear older British people using (eg how the Queen used to talk).

Bouncing between several since lemmy.world is being hammered right now, I'm sure once the dust settles things will calm down. Right now I'm on infosec.pub because it was recommended to me as a smaller server. It really doesn't matter so long as whatever you're on communicates with everyone else.

I'm sure Christian is taking some time off to lick his wounds and regroup, and I truly hope he's able to move forward. If he makes a Lemmy app, I'll definitely jump on it.

In terms of users? It'll likely never happen, but that's fine by me. Reddit's transformation to a big evil company was s inevitable.
