I recently read Dead Moon by Peter Clines, and it’s one of my favorite novels ever. It’s set in the future when the moon is used as a cemetery, and something happens that makes all the dead rise from the grave and attack the settlement there. It has an amazing b-movie feel.
I realize the cool thing is to ignorantly shit on Mindy Kaling for her involvement in that show and use it as an excuse to insist she’s talentless, but you do realize she was just an actor on Velma? No writing or directing credits. So does she really deserve to lose all goodwill from the office just because of that? Or are you just continuing the circlejerk?
I’m a huge horror fan and I watch those based on the season. So throughout winter I watch all of these:
The Thing
The Shining
The Frankenstein Theory
Frozen
Devil’s Pass
We Are Still Here
Wrong Turn 4
30 Days of Night
The Blackcoat’s Daughter
Pontypool
Wind Chill
Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin
No Exit
Curse of Aurore
The Last Winter
They didn’t even get through an entire movie without ruining that mystique. It wasn’t very “unstoppable and inevitable” when it was just standing on the roof of a house, or when it just grabbed that girl by the hair but failed to do any damage.
I'm honestly surprised at the audience praise, but I'm not at all knowledgable about the lore. I have fairly low standards for horror, especially around Halloween, and my expectations for this were really low: all I wanted was a guy working as a night shift security guard seeing a lot of spooky stuff. After the early sequence with the throw-away characters, I felt like there really just wasn't any horror. Once there was a threat, it was fairly immediately dispatched.
I don't mean to be a downer for anyone who enjoyed it, I just loved the idea and really wish I had liked it.
Is there a way to do credit card autocomplete on the iOS app? It’s the only reason I haven’t made the switch
