It's not about security or privacy for Apple. It's about the image of it.

Apple devices aren't inherently more secure than competing devices, they just make a bigger spectacle about it. In this case they could easily region lock the feature being requested but it's much better for their image to just sling threats. I'd honestly not be surprised if they are also developing the feature in the background so they can roll back out to the UK at a later date.

I would ask myself "What are the games I play and how important is it to be able to play the latest AAA games when they come out?"

Proton is doing a wonderful job with compatibility, but it will likely always be behind by a bit.

If gaming is your primary focus and you play a lot of new games when they first come out, dual booting might be the best option.

On the other hand, if you are more patient and don't have to play things on release day or just like going through the catalogue of older good games, you can probably get away with a full switch.

Personally, I'm in a more privileged scenario. I have a laptop with Linux and a desktop with Windows for gaming. I do most of my gaming on the steam deck, PS5, or switch but any first person or games that benefit from good reaction time with a mouse get played on my desktop. Some of my games just won't work on proton because they are too intensive to run through emulation or just in too early a state to consider trying.

With all of that, if I could only have one machine it would likely be running Windows in some capacity.

I recommend you evaluate that question for yourself and go look at ProtonDB to figure out what state you'll be in.

I played Fortnite for about a year after the BR came out. I enjoyed the PvE version of the game and the BR had the right balance of ridiculousness and solo gameplay I wanted out of a competitive shooter.

I never enjoyed the team driven BRs because I don't find my team relying on me relaxing.

Are you saying Beehaw should be defederated sure to it's big lots of defederated instances or are you saying more instances should follow it's example of defederating instances or that Beehaw needs to defederate a few more bad instances?

I was late to the vanced game because I was very willing to put up with the ads for a long while. But yeah, the number of commercial breaks in a 10 minute video became insane.

It's going to have very few bugs. The number of unintended features will be high, though.

I never clipped out during the cutscene of Skyrim, I don't think.

It's hard to be totally sure though because I've definitely had the cart go for a tumble.

That sub in particular is just notable for banning people for even mild "offenses". I found a post from it on r/all and asked a comment for a source on a claim they made and got permabanned for it calling me a troll.

r/conservative is also not a place for free speech. They ban people for asking questions.

I use almost no Apple products. My wife uses their phone, tablet, watch, earbuds, computer, etc. It's mostly a matter of preference. I generally prefer Android and non Apple earbuds and my watch doesn't have a touch screen so the battery lasts a week or so vs the Apple watch which gets about 18 hours.

Apple is definitely a design leader, though Google, Facebook, and Twitter have moved that bar further forward with open-source framework's.

Though from a FOSS perspective, I will agree that Apple is more parasitic than beneficial.

They generally make very little strides forward for open source and MacOS being POSIX compliant includes a ton of FOSS to make it work.
