Could Baldur's Gate 3 and Starfield be the last remnants of great "Dumb RPGs"? (self.gaming)
 

With the current arms race to AI by every single tech company, I feel like would could be a rough transition in games, similar that what we experienced when switching to 3D games in the late 90s

One genre that could be more affected than others is the classic RPG genre.

I have no doubt that this could lead to great outcomes with AI as a tool, but not as a replacement.

I can imagine boardroom meetings happening right now where corporate would dictate creators to switch to AI generated NPC and questlines because it's more cost effective and the hype surrounding AI.

What do you guys think?

Inflation is killing us in Canada, a make a good salary and I have to check my spending much more than a mere few months ago.

I can't imagine how a family with a average or slightly sub average salary is able to stay afloat

The more time passes by, the shorter my sub feed gets. It's now down to only two subs 😂

Like you, it doesn't seem to affect my "front-page" feed, but since they are gone from my subs feed, I can't browse them easily

But it doesnt change te fact that some of my subs are much more active / populated when viewing through my other instance account. Of course its hard to tell which instance is "to blame", but some things are weird.

I tried the following:

  • complete wipe / uninstall (data / cache) of Connect
  • tried to unsub from the web and resub through Connect
  • tried to unsub from connect and resub trhough the web

always the same results. Its pretty hard to know which specific communities are overall affected, but I can tell you that it's not a "pending" issue and it doesnt seem to be related to specific community instances or account instance. (I can reproduce this throught my sh.j.w account and .world account, and have seens issues with .ca / .world communities)

fwiw a complete wipe seems to have made it worse. before I could see the Connect community appear in my subs on one of my accounts, now its gone on both. Let me know if you want me to try something else!

Thanks so much for everything!

Still having the issue on some of my accounts (not all of them) that some subs will show as being not subscribed to even tho I am, and wont let me add them to favorites. I thought it was a tablet specific issue but I can reproduce it as well on my phone.

Something's not right. If I browse my sub feed by Hot, I see posts from 2-3 years ago.

Yeah I was wondering why my Lemmy feed was being quiet all of a sudden. It turns out in don't see posts from many other instances.

I tried logging in using my other instances account and everything seems to be working fine over there..

Now that Lemmy largely prefers webp over gifs, I'm looking for simple, effective gif to webp converters.

As usual there seems to have tons of them but most are bloated or riddled with ads.

So far this is the best one I've found.
