I drive a 2008 4runner with 85k miles. It's been receiving by the manual maintenance for its whole life.

Recently I have started noticing a gas smell when I start the car in the morning. It seems to dissipate after a few minutes. I also don't really notice it on subsequent starts on the same day if I take the car out multiple times. Or if I do, it's less pronounced.

There is no visible leak or gas on the driveway that I can see.

Any ideas? I'm planning to take it in but figured no harm in asking here to see if anyone knows what I might be dealing with first.

Thanks!

It can be easy to forget that while the onion is often one of the funniest things out there, it remains and always has been a satirical newspaper first. And sometimes satire needs to bite more than amuse in order to be truly effective.

Same crap with people brigading Sync too. Like, I don't get the mindset. I work for my money, I get to decide how to spend it. I'm happy to use some of that money to give to someone who is earning it by creating a product that I love using every single day. That's not wrong, that is how things work. Everything can't just be free, nothing would get made like that.

Valve is a private company. Microsoft can't just buy Valve, Valve would have to agree to that. Considering Valve has (for a company their size) effectively unlimited resources already, and considering that Valve's founder and leader is a known detractor of Microsoft, this is a nothing story. Microsoft will not buy Valve. This is baseless musing, like how I sometimes daydream with my wife about what we'd do if we won the lottery (which we don't play).

Of course Microsoft would love to buy Valve. Just like they would love to buy Nintendo. I'd like to buy a Lamborghini. All these things are about equivalently likely, zero likely.

Only one reply saying you should involve your wife in this decision. Not enough.

You need to involve your wife in this decision. Her use case is nothing for a modern laptop, either Windows or Mac. Anything new will run like a dream in comparison to what she's got. Literally anything. Get her to a physical store to type on the keyboards and make sure she likes whatever models are in contention. This is highly personal and subjective so other opinions aren't worth much.

I do think it worth mentioning that switching ecosystems isn't something to do lightly. She needs to be involved in that decision. I've used both Windows and Mac. I'm comfortable with both, but generally prefer Windows. They are way too different to treat the possibility of switching flippantly.

Why smoking remains so prevalent. I'm sure it's not a majority that smokes, but it is massively more common anywhere I've been in Europe than here in the US. I live in a fairly large city and I will go many days in a row without seeing a single person smoking.

I just don't really get it. It's gross, it smells, it ruins your teeth and your lungs, and it's expensive. Why do it?

Felt like we needed a factual post for the day. Great team win!

Title, basically.

I keep trying to keep my excitement in check but with every preseason game I've felt like I'm seeing more and more things I like from this team.

Is it crazy to think we could legitimately play .500 or better football this year?

They just seem to have a great core, great attitude, and I can't wait for the regular season.

$10M??

I'd take $10. Seriously. I mean I guess unless the meal was fully paid for and pretty fancy. But with either of these two donuts that feels like hardly a given.

$10 is a sure bet.

Unless you're Waukesha, Wisconsin, where they specifically voted to stop giving kids handouts (i.e. free lunch). Because, you know, kids should work for their food or something instead of using their energy to learn.

Not sure what country you're in, but at least in the US there is some precedent for a dying declaration being used to secure a warrant for search.

Considering how long ago this was and the fact that there is zero actual evidence I think you face a pretty extreme uphill battle in anything being done about this. It also sounds like, given your story, local authorities could be in on it. Makes it even harder.

Without directly pursuing this yourself using your own resources, potentially legally grey area tactics, and likely endangering yourself I have a hard time believing much can or will be done about this. But it's definitely a compelling story and I agree with the other poster that publicizing it may be your best bet.

I really love this web comic. I'm very unsure how it will translate to anything beyond its current scope, which is essentially translation of individual "moments" into literal language. The shtick doesn't have a chance to get old when it's never a situation longer than like 6 panels. But I'm curious enough to be mildly interested.

And by all means, good for Nathan Pyle for cashing in on this. That's awesome.

Seriously, the real found Satan is the dude who just blatantly wastes this much potential storage space in a kitchen build.

It's astonishing that this game continues to receive support. Pretty impressive dedication from a one man developer.

Didn't think anyone could replace Katie when she left but it's been an awesome couple of years with Zora. Feels like she really became part of the personality of the team. Excited she is getting a new opportunity and I wish her the best.

I just want to be clear that I've paid for Sync in various ways I think 3 or 4 times now and I'll gladly pay for it again. Jerboa has been at least functional (10x better than when I first started using it a few months ago).

But it's Sync I want.

Seriously though, I'm not sure about the contract details yet but I'm sure he's cheap. We don't need him to be crazy good or even really all that good at all. We just need him to be a big body in the paint on defense when Brook needs a breather and I'm pretty certain he can still do that.
