Which is the plan anyway, especially after the failure of allowing privatized luxury housing development.

But more importantly, a country that doesn't privatize any of the essentials has nothing to fear from the collapse of private markets; everyone will still be housed, fed, and cared for.

This excuse only affects fractional reserve banking and investments. It does nothing to non capital focused economies, and China's economy is less than 40% capital.

Hey don't worry, you can always illegally camp as a hermit in some wild area and hope a compatible hermit comes along to start a family with you before you get shot by a park ranger.

It's far more likely than owning a home the boomer way.

Because besides FDR, and maybe Lincoln, there is no other slightly decent president. Some people want to hold a memory, even a false one, a hope in darkness that maybe even the US might improve someday instead of continuing its 200+ year decay into feudalism with already worse inequality than at any other point in world history since the time of the pharaohs.
