you're too sensitive if people asking for help looks like trolling to you. It's kind of offensive, to be honest. I'm embarrassing myself by admitting that I don't know what this thing is, and asking strangers for help, and you're telling me I look like a troll? Trolls are someone who invite discussion to be hurtful. That's awful.

Your position is that Lemmy is immune to the following: company creates an account on Lemmy, spams communities with low effort content (possibly created by AI or automated processes), attracts viewers, then sells the account to another company as part of an advertising campaign. This position can be defeated if the above happens even one time. I'm refusing to debate you on this not because you're infallibly correct, but because it's not worth the investment of time. Any idiot can see it's an indefensible position. Have a day. 🫱

before you guys upvote him, please read the discussion.

this guy came to my instance, read what I wrote, typed out a report and submitted it; he blames blindness and small text for not knowing which instance he was on, but neither of those issues prevented him from reading my post (it was a post about abuse, in a community I created, on my own instance) and reporting it. That's why I banned him. He's using a disability as an excuse to get away with offensive behavior (ignoring me when I tried to discuss the issue privately first).

Yes, disabled people can behave offensively. Some disabled people can be selfish. Some of them hurt people, then walk away without apologizing, and blame their disability instead of themselves. To me, that's abusive, and I call it out instead of letting people get away with it, because I've suffered enough at the hands of people who make excuses instead of being accountable.

because there's only a few thousand users here.

that's why it isn't commonplace; there's no money in it. slop companies make more money on tiktok, facebook and other popular platforms...

...but Lemmy is not free from abuse of this type. If the fediverse was more popular it would start to see more slop content.

that's my point. it does work here, because the same vulnerabilities exist, but isn't common because it's not as profitable as shitting in tiktok or facebook. :)
