Tell your congresscritter; they're the one who will have the power to make the change.
The big difference is who is in Congress. A lot more Democrats there are on board with something like this.
I don't doubt you that it's not happening in your circle. It's pretty definitely happening though:
Sales of America’s No. 1 selling electric truck, the F-150 Lightning, totaled 15,645 through June of this year. F-150 Lightning sales for Q2 totaled 7,902, up 77 percent from a year ago.
Rivian Automotive, Inc. (NASDAQ: RIVN) today announced production and delivery totals for the quarter ending June 30, 2024. The company produced 9,612 vehicles at its manufacturing facility in Normal, Illinois and delivered 13,790 vehicles during the same period.
Now...Ford doesn't appear to be trying to scale up and Rivian is, so I expect this to change in the future. But it's definitely a lot that are selling.
The article makes it clear that they're talking about going past 1.5°C
Which is why Americans should prevent that.
There's a fair bit of masking or luck involved in that at this point. The current crop of COVID vaccines don't prevent disease for more than a few months.
I think this is pretty common. It's been hard to get more than one per year in the US unless you're over 65.
We really ought to be doing twice a year with the current vaccines; you can if you're over 65.
Every step we take past 1.5°C means increased risk of losing major ecosystems and habitable areas.
Paris called for limiting the long-term average temperature increase to 2°C which remains attainable.
Via a managed phase-out.
You can:
- Stop making ICE vehicles.
- Improve public transport
- Encourage the manufacture of ebikes and electric cars.
- Reduce oil extraction
All at once.
I'll also note that the US is a huge oil exporter. As such, sharply reduced extraction would largely cause pain to the oil industry and overseas.
Who cares?
Politicians can be pushed.
Basic answer has been: you can actually get the booster at about 10 days, but it's fairly common to wait 3 months because there is some level of immunity from handling the infection
