I ran my i7 965 on a TRUE black and a delta fan for a while. Still don't know how I put up with that level of fan noise.

This isn't quite what you're asking for, but my wife just got a new M3 Pro MBP with 18GB RAM (5 performance/6 efficiency cores) and it's about 2/3 the all core speed of my 5950X in CPU rendering and about 1/4 the speed of my 3090 in GPU rendering.

It's (irritatingly) quite a bit faster in single thread rendering though - it's got about a 50% edge there.

I'd still take one every time as a TV - they just look so much better.

(Speaking as someone who bought an A95k a bit over a year ago and has had an LG WOLED for several years before that)

I said it'd be expensive to convert my entire 60TB NAS to SSD.

A 1-2TB SSD to run your OS on is a perfectly reasonable expense, and will make a huge difference to your experience running the system.

I still have a dual core (with hyperthreading) in my laptop, and it's totally functional. Nobody would accuse it of being fast, but it's certainly usable.

I'd defend it if the Air were a $500 machine, but at $1k, 8GB is unacceptable.

12 would maybe be reasonable, but come on, my phone, which was about the same price as a MacBook Air well over a year ago has more RAM (12GB) and more storage (512 GB). That's just totally unacceptable.
