I've noticed several community announcement threads being created in [email protected] and thought that it might be best to centralize the advertisements in a single thread to help with discoverability and longevity. I'll attempt to keep this post up-to-date as folks add comments for new communities.

Also, this isn't a replacement for https://browse.feddit.de/.

The directlink sends you directly to the owning instance's content (useful if your instance hasn't indexed the community yet, as the second link might come back with a 404 until it has been indexed). The second link is "universal" and will keep you local to your own instance (useful when trying to subscribe).

I don't think you have much to worry about on the beehaw communities; this instance tends to air more on the positive side, and its baked into the DNA of the instance.

That said, there's only so much that can be done on the other instances since, by design, they own the content for the communities they host. The only thing that can be done there is to request the instance to be defederated or to block the communities explicitly.

Not so much on German, but I'm working on learning Japanese. I find that the drill based apps (duolingo) works well for raw memorization and word recognizing, but they really have limited impact with long form media unless you're already deeply immersed with other speakers or media.

I stared to supplement with things like todai and satori reader which provide translations for news and articles/books. I find that this gives an extra push to really help understand the language.

YouTube is good to supplement, but make sure you don't go too deep and end up frustrating yourself 😉

I'm flip flopping between Cammy and Lily right now; still finding my main. I tend to play rushdown / speed characters like cammy or ibuki, so they both were a close fit for me.

Seemed like Kimberly would have jived well, but I've been having trouble with her combos and still not able to do the right things with her mixups.
