Why aren't more Democrats interested in government spending and just trust the government unconditionally? At least Jon Stewart dares to ask the right questions.

We need these kind of questions all over the world - cut government spending and produce instead of leech.

It was a general comment based on history. Read 'basic economics' from Thomas Sowell and you will know how many mistakes governments make and how much money is wasted on useless projects. If a company makes a mistake it goes bankrupt, the government is never out of capital. It can raise taxes or print money.

There is no end to spending and government control if you think with a Democrat/socialist mindset. You must be a monster if you are against an 'every student succeeds act' right? Who doesn't want every student to succeed.

Why don't we create an 'every human on earth succeeds act'? Doesn't everybody deserve that?

So you think that governments don't waste your money? Keep on dreaming.

Hopefully he will do a lot better. His biggest obstacle will be the bureaucracy that will use every legal trick to stop this from happening. Something that Milei already warned them about - similar story in Argentina. Ignore the kicking and screaming and plough through.

The left seems to be united, but that is only because they have one common enemy. Some really think he is the new Hitler and then there is no room for any nuance.
I don't believe anyone on the left supports wasting money on ridiculous projects though. Also the woke agenda is not supported by everyone. Hopefully once the dust has settled from the Trump administration, the left will take a good look at themselves and start to acknowledge some of their biggest mistakes.

As a European I am glad Trump is shaking things up. Europe is turning into Latin America - overregulated and overtaxed with a lot of network corruption.

Instance if very small - not much traffic and local content yet. I sometimes add some interesting (imho) libertarian stuff there. Currently mainly about economics and Argentina. I'm not the admin - that's Bobr

Didn't take long for Hitler to arrive at the party 😊 That is why you need to have a free float of ideas and news. I like X from that perspective. A ton of other viewpoints than mine are presented there in my timeline as well. The left just doesn't seem to be interested in exchanging ideas.

I never block anyone because of his/her opinion unless the person is rude. I truly believe most people want the best for everyone though. They just have different opinions how to achieve that.

I don't get the echo-chamber thing. Usually that is because you haven't got enough faith in your own arguments. Similar to religious fanatics - opposing their beliefs can get you killed. Everybody makes mistakes and is wrong sometimes and that certainly applies to our governments. Trump will make a bunch of them too, pretty sure the average conservative will not agree with everything he does.

Not surprising. They haven't learned to take care or think for themselves.

I've been a GNU/Linux user for decades. I know RMS but I don't think he is or ever was a communist. He isn't against capitalism and is fine with people making money of free software. He stepped out of FOSS and I haven't followed what's currently going on though. Most tech I find interesting is decentralized, private and open source. You might be right that on the closed software side they are more right wing.

Lemmy is nice. Software itself doesn't have a political view and it doesn't seem to care who is using it 😊

Not a conservative myself but it is funny that a post like this is downvoted on a conservative forum. Lemmy is swamped with lefties 😁 Reddit ²
