I agree. Louis brought a good point when he talked about Gran Turismo licensed content (like Ferrari cars and etc), that some companies have licenses that will expire for content in the game. But you know what? THAT'S NOT MY FUCKING PROBLEM. You buy a game, you should be able to run it until the end of time.

Which is pretty stupid, if you ask me. Owning the mods and custom maps just killed the community around it.
Yep. And wtf happened with LAN multiplayer? Even the Beta from Diablo II Ressurected had it, but they REMOVED IT from the release version. I call BS on what this Thor guy is saying.
Now this is the real solid advice
I think people are missing the point here. The biggest problem was not that the update was bricking the machines, that could've happened to Linux/macOS/BSD etc. The problem is that the solution to the problem is to MANUALLY access the machine, get into safe mode and type some commands. This is insane. And you should be able to EASILY disable automatic updates for apps like that on Windows Server.
I don't know exactly about Woodpecker CI because I haven't used it very much, but GitHub Actions is Beta software. Has A LOT of bugs, no QoL features, spaghetti codebase, the Runners are AWFUL to selfhost... and I could go on.
Elden Ring in a nutshell
And it would be even more useful with Windows than SteamOS, Windows only has the desktop mode.
Well said! The people behind the Steam Deck are passionate about gaming and making a device they would use.
That's a good point! Apple, Samsung and others have been destroying the consumer electronics space for years.
God, finally someone with common sense. The devs do not need to change the software for you to host a server in your 10 year old ThinkPad, they just need to make the software available. It's not up to them to figure out HOW you are going to host the game's server, they just need to make it POSSIBLE.
