The Democratic Party is a big tent party. There is far left, center left, center, and center right. And of course the left-right spectrum is always going to be reductive. Joe Biden has been observed to track the center of the party as a whole over time, so he would be a center left politician.

Leatherman does engraved knives. I have mine engraved with my name and cell number.

Flashlights are small and cheap. Drop one down a crack? Oh, well, at least it was my $30 flashlight instead of my $800 cell phone. They also can be turned down to improve battery life. Mine has days of battery life at its lowest.

Left pocket: Phone, earbuds, hand sanitizer

Right pocket: Minimalist wallet, keys, flashlight, pocket knife, mask

The flashlight is a ACEBEAM Rider RX with an AA-sized rechargeable lithium battery that can be swapped for AA in an emergency. The keys include a Yubikey and thumb drive with Ventoy. Because Portland is at risk for a megathrust earthquake, I carry a whistle in case I am trapped under debris.

I also have a pouch with office supplies, eyeglass cleaner, and so on.

Yeah, it always kinda weirds me out that "killing women and children" is the rallying cry in most conflicts. Civilians. Killing civilians. That's what's bad.

Welcome to the world of abusing the shit out of Ant. My first full time job was developing Ant in unholy ways. Tens of thousands of lines of Ant at least, doing significant logic. If-then-else, for loops, math, procedures, date-time math. I stuck it out for a year. It was a year too long.

As Millennial as Millennial can be, smack dab in the middle of the cohort.

There's a history here. Back with Jimmy Carter, he had a primary challenge from Ted Kennedy. Carter won, but only by 51% to 37%. He was already having trouble of course, but it was just one more thing that hurt him and got Reagan in power. We all know how that went. So now the general practice is to clear the field for the incumbent if they choose to run for reelection. Biden hasn't been given any special out.

Trump is of course an odd case since he's not an incumbent, but his grip on the Republican Party gives him a position near to that of an incumbent. He was always by far and away the frontrunner, and every other Republican candidate was for the chattering class.

Especially if that's food that's going to negatively impact your own health, like junk food.

Under the Ukrainian constitution, they cannot hold an election while martial law is under effect. Much of the population (a majority?) is either displaced or in an occupied territory.

I'm looking for a vegan sandwich protein recipe that is more of a whole food than the highly processed food that is often found in stores. So far, I'm going to try out lentil patties. I figure I can freeze a batch and stick them in the air fryer as needed. Any other ideas?

The mod team could use one or two more people. I joined a couple of years ago more as a caretaker for the space than someone with a passionate interest in building a community. Now that Lemmy is maturing, it's my hope to be replaced by someone who is willing to spend the time that it takes.

tl;dr: Please crosspost to our sister community [email protected]

This is a followup to the previous post locking the community and redirecting to the more active community at [email protected]. As several of the comments pointed out, beehaw has defederated with at least one popular Lemmy instance, lemmy.world. That would warrant keeping this community, the second largest feminism community by subscribers, open so that there is a feminism community on a general purpose instance.

However, we're still concerned with the low traffic here. The responses to the previous announcement post represent about half the comments from the past year. To facilitate growth, both [email protected] and this community are asking our members to crosspost to both communities.

The [email protected] community has long since become the largest Lemmy community. In acknowledgement of that, I have decided in consultation with @[email protected] to lock this community and redirect.

Personally, I am male and only took on the mod post to make sure Lemmy had a feminism community in the early days of Lemmy, so I'm happy to cede the title to a more vibrant community. If someone wishes to attempt to revive the lemmy.ml community, please get in contact.

Edit: In response to feedback, see:
