Synthetic taurine is a thing and is widely used in formulated food. Cats are sometimes taken off meat based diets due to medical complications. The posts you removed were reasonable and explained why in good faith, the other poster made wild asertions not based on modern evidence and made anti-reality claims such as synthetic nutrients not being equivalent and 'meat' needs being scientific fact.

They violate the rules of this comm and you are overreaching by interfering.

All companion animals should recieve regular health checks by vets, and any major dietary changes should be done with medical oversight but that doesn't mean it isn't possible. Obviously a wfpbd will kill a cat, as the poster you censored pointed out. Your closeness is affecting your judgement here, and you cannot 'own' a sentient being.

What do you think self discipline is? Like what does it mean for someone to have more or less of it? How could you tell?

I ask because to me it's executive function. which had a physiological basis and varies based on physiological state. So someone without a well functioning executive function system's best would look kinda arse to someone who had a functional one.

OP have you considered that the state you're seeing them in is them trying their best?

Best isn't static right, like when I run some sometimes my best is wheezing and throwing up through 5 km in 50 minutes because I'm hungover and sleep deprived, sometimes it's getting shoes on and stepping outside before deciding to quit, and sometimes it's nailing a pb on a 15 km run and only cutting it short because I have responsibilities and shit.

You just don't know what's going on in someone's life. I am diagnoses adhd and have been undergoing treatment for 15 years. Mostly I seem like a kinda lazy spinster with too many hobbies and an untidy yard; sometimes I'm a whirl of activity and achievement; and other times I spend 3 weeks paralysed on the couch, absolutely wracked with guilt and self loathing, pleading for my brain to just give me enough of anything to feed myself for the first time in 3 days while my head pounds from dehydration and I want to peal my skin off for how dirty and uncomfortable it is.

Every moment is me trying my best. I can't imagine not extending the courtesy of that belief to everyone else.

I tried to start a movement but we didn't have food and water for people, a place to meet and plan, networks to raise money for legal defense/time off work, people to administer first aid etc. Why did it fall apart? Hmm, mystery.

I don't think most people enjoy feeling like a burden, judged as lazy, or living in filth and failing to achieve their goals.

Usually for someone to smoke weed all day and play video games or w/e without maintaining hygiene and health something has to be seriously wrong. Animals not maintaining themselves is like the biggest warning sign that something is wrong.

To simplify that as 'So and so lacks self discipline' is moronic. Maybe they claim they have adhd and they don't but something is fucking wrong with a brain in that state and they need help.

And just like that I became a racist.

Gimble vice and a fleshlight?

People's brains fall out of their heads on this one hey? Like wtf, you're actually responsible for what you say seems pretty basic. Nobody is arguing for prosecuting anyone who expresses opinions, or what they earnestly believe to be true and communicate in good faith. Just, if you make shit up and people get hurt well then, you did that hey.

Hmmm lets examine this statement.

Isolated weird place, scary Russians, Russian stereotypes of intellectual game + tremendous violence.

Gee, it almost sounds like this is a too convenient racist lie. Any proof? The oldest reference just says 'it totally happened' and cites something I can't access on Google books. It's 20 years after the fact and not a primary source.

It's a book about non monogamy and how to practice it in a considerate and sensitive manner.

Look ultimately words mean what they mean in the context that they're spoken but broadly neoliberalism is highly socially permissive. Provided, that is, one does this as a responsible member of the capitalist economy and doesn't disrupt the market.

Like you can have neoliberals that love trans kids, celebrate pride, want more black female drone pilots etc. It is, however, not a neoliberal position say compare the number of vacant properties to the number of homeless people and suggest that perhaps we should just take the unused houses and give them to homeless people? That would violate the principles of private property and free markets. After all: what freedom does one have if you can't watch someone freeze to death on the doorstep of your vacant investment?

If your friends think that freedom to do that is utterly absurd and a society which defends that is fundamentally rotten then they are not liberals in the academic sense, however their substantially more leftist stance may be called liberalism in the political context you find yourselves in.

To clarify my question. What do you mean 'actually liberal' ideologies?

Like what are their thoughts on monetarism?private property? free association? private entities in markets? Debt and paying it, both private and state held?

If they think that the state should provide the means of subsistence of the entire populus, that property should in general be held in common and private property is not sacred, that government entities in a market are often more effective than private and/or that business should be heavily regulated to serve common good, that debts should be cancelled when it is not realistic or fair to pay them etc. Or perhaps even further afield positions like questioning nation States, police, militaries and boarders... well, then they are not in fact liberals haha.

Unsurprisingly it's still food and housing driving it largely.

Marketing campaign involves targetting usaians insecure about a lack of nationalism in their desert choices. Claim icecream sandwiches are effete and European while hot dogs symbolise freedom and the rags to riches stuff.

Designed by my lovely wife.

btw It is food safe to drink coffee next to 3d printed parts nerds ;)

P.S. this filament is awful, filamentium pla. The worst thing I've used since early reprap days when variability was high.

Any ideas what's causing that "shadowing" between the holes? those parts printed last I think but at the same speed/ironing pattern etc as the more matte parts between.

It'a detained by magnets so it doesn't get in the basket and interfere with spreading out the grounds. Needs a clean up with a lick of sandpaper, pretty stupid but these things cost like 50 bucks /shrug

EDIT: appreciate all the concern for my health, it touches dry coffee grounds. I agree that if it got wet there'd be health problems but unless it gets real humid there's just no opportunity for decay. As for random leaching same diff, without heat and wet it's not really a concern.

That said I probably will seal an improved design, this is just a test piece.

I'm sorry for making this.

A straw is just a stretched doughnut.

Seems more related to air movement maybe than depletion of ozone. Still, the possibility is a bummer

Obviously giant creature war breeding is the goal. Any great candidates that are from good biomes for taming?

Do cavern invaders still cause save corruption/become completely unmanageable?

Also since it's been a long time I'm thinking of setting a lower population limit and taking my time. Do any of you have recommended settings for enemy invasions etc based in a ~50 dwarf cap?

I've got a refurbed thinkpad yoga in the mail. It's a stylus oriented laptop so I need to change the software I use to be more clicky.

For years I've favoured stuff like netctl, xrandr, xbacklight etc etc over GUI alternatives and usually gone for very minimal WM setups (e.g. dwm).

For obvious reasons this would be actual hell with a stylus in tablet mode, but it's been around 15 years since I last had a clicky linux setup and I'm really lost as to how to set one up on arch. What do you folks recommend for laptops?

EDIT: update for wayward souls. Went with plasma, less works nicely out of the box but gnome hung occasionally on a 2019 yoga x1. There's a lot about plasma I would say is annoying but configuring it is vastly easier than gnome.

Silly title aside what do you do to warm up and if you do any stretching for mobility after a run what are they?

I confess to being extremely lazy. My idea of a warm up is just running a bit easier than normal and the only stretch I do is foam roll my calves and stretch out the old hams on a wall.

Every time I look up articles you get insane fitness blogs regurgitating the same 3 page "easy" routine that you absolutely must do all of or you will definitely die.

So what do actual other human beings do? Come, share your wisdom or commiserate in haphazardness.

This should be an interesting case to watch. It seems on it's face something utterly inhumane and so it will be important to know whether it is considered legitimate.

I started running about a year ago. No specific goals just for fun, was making good progress till I got up to being able to run about 7 km 5 days a week no problem.

Unfortunately a series of health problems lead to getting really out of condition and I'm dealing with some knee tendonitis due to irresponsibility when doing strength training.

Now I'm gasping after 3 km and having to carefully pace myself to avoid aggravating the knee while I build it back up.

On one hand I know that a lot of the long term adaption isn't totally gone, that I'm not starting from zero. When I started I would throw up after running a block.

On the other hand it's demotivating as fuck putting in so much effort to hobble through stuff that recently was relaxing.

I'm obviously not the first person or the last to deal with this so I'm asking if you could share times when you've dealt with recovering and what kept you going.
