had no idea there was a new cheekface record, I'm gonna listen to more cheekface now

I mean I'm just a little bug solving puzzles and defying the laws of space/time? and with only one button? that's so sick

(seriously, this game is brilliant in its design, definitely worth the 5 hours it takes to play through)

She should have never had a congressional career after ordering the confederate flag to be flown in San Francisco in the 80s or after her "handling" of AIDs.

I'm currently watching Deep Space 9 for the first time and The Visitor is the best 45 minutes of television I've ever watched, so I guess DS9 season 4 even though I've only watched a few episodes from it at this point.

First comment is what I'm dunking on, the rest were just surprising to see upvoted in /r/nba

I really liked it. I haven't watched a ton of the anime, but I have watched more of it than the first season of live action covers.

That's right.

Here's a list of them that all did one good thing in 2021

There was a brief moment where I thought video games had to program every possible combination of pixels so it could react appropriately to what I was doing at any given time in a game. I had no idea how things rendered. I didn't know they were individual sprites that animated separately. Thought it was all just one big thing and they had to draw every single possibility with nothing dynamic going on.

Then I played Wolfenstein 3D on PC and realized how impossible that would be in 3D. Funnily enough, those little pocket games they had in the 80s and 90s like Game & Watch kinda were doing exactly what I thought every game was doing, but they were much simpler games for a reason.

I like the Orville more than any current running Star Trek show (and that's not me saying I hate all modern Trek, I definitely like some of it), but I'd take 90s Trek over Orville, so it's a bit of a toss up.

I would love another season of Orville.

Not that I'm surprised, but it looks beautiful.

Oh wow, I had no idea she was known for something other than acting.

I mean, actually my favorite federated instance is probably lemmygrad or startrek.website, but it's really funny wandering into a lemmy.ml community. They've got ALL the reddit liberals, but their mods all agree with us. So it'll just be threads and threads of hexbears eviscerating racists/homophobes/transphobes and by the time I read it, all of the non-hexbeart comments are removed by mod

My cat died today. Early in the morning he started yelling in pain and then we noticed he was breathing heavily. We immediately took him to an emergency vet. While he was there, he stopped being able to breathe without assistance. Congenital heart failure. We decided to have him put down peacefully. I know he was sedated, but watching him choke on the fluid in his lungs broke me. Pink fluid slowly pulsed into his breathing tube as he left this world.

He was my best friend. We've got four cats and he was the best friend of the other three. He never hissed. He never growled. I loved him so much and I feel so empty without him around. His favorite thing to do was to slam his body into your legs to show his affection. When all the other cats were asleep in other rooms, he'd come up on the couch and cuddle with me. One of our other cats is disabled and he always made sure she was clean and warm. One of the other cats is afraid to eat alone, but he always made sure to stand right next to her at breakfast and dinner time until she was done.

No one has to respond to this, I just needed to write out why he was so lovely. There was no creature in this world as pure as him. He was such a good boy and I love him and I miss him and I don't know what I'm going to do other than roll up into a ball and cry with my partner.

I know I'm not in trouble, but I do feel bad that I'm probably the reason blahaj.zone will defederate with hexbear. I just thought they had an insane take on what hexbear was and posted it in the_dunk_tank. I included a link because I am not a LIB

but also I am a LIB and so are all of you and I'm sorry for that as well.

Wow, what a beautiful movie. It has strong themes that it isn't afraid to wear on its sleeves. I started crying when Ellie was traveling through space. "They should have sent a poet" just absolutely destroyed me.

I wish more people in STEM realized the importance of humanities. The way Carl Sagan clearly did. I'm not just saying that about this single line, but because the entire movie is wrapped up in this beautiful dance of scientific pursuit and the human experience.

Great movie, I highly recommend it. I know not everyone loves it, but I loved it.
