Can anyone explain why the Man U game is considered a funnier result than this one? Is it purely because it was mostly the 2nd string (to start with) getting Moyes'd?

Maguire outlasting Varane would not have been on anyones bingo card even 6 months ago. Fair play to him for turning it around.
United still have a serious problem in that every team and agent knows to put their prices up when they come knocking. Even bigger is that they've handled Sancho so badly that young players may think twice before moving there.
