This is really only a con if getting really good is a primary goal. Letting go of the need to master everything you enjoy doing is liberating.
You don't have to finish every book you start. You don't have to beat every game or play it on hard mode. You don't have to make things that people want to buy. Your garden doesn't have to win awards. Your app or your doohickeys don't need to do anything useful or important.
We're all conditioned to think that every waking moment of our lives should be productive, but we don't have to be shackled by it.
Of course it's okay to find fulfillment and satisfaction in mastering something, but what's important is not buying into the idea that it's the only way to enjoy an activity.
