I mean I don't mind the current state of Lemmy right now, in fact I'm actually quite liking how it is right now. It'll probably take a lot of time to even get on the same level as Reddit if it ever does, however I'm seeing so much users, moderators, and devs who are committed to making this platform work and that in and of itself is amazing to see. Things like this actually show there is a human side to technology and that we can make it work. Anyways that's my food for thought.

Who could've known that Reddit all along was a faceless corporation that makes horrible decisions!

Hey, I have to delete your post as it does not fit in this community due to the fact that it is not a question and therefore irrelevant to [email protected]. There should be other communities that would welcome general posts like this!

Holy crap lol, when I visited the /u/ModCodeofConduct account recently, all the posts nowadays are simply just trying to find mods for literally a huge range of subreddits. Lmao it's insane seeing the new mods just banning users left and right.

This is why I'm a big supporter of physical media if possible. Sure the actual game may not be on there or something because it's too big or whatnot, however with what the hell is going on with digital companies in the modern videogaming world, yeah no they simply just can not be trusted much with the amount of power they hold. This includes but not limited to: Ubisoft, Steam, EA, Epic Games, etc.

EDIT: Yeah GOG is fine apologies for that, however the well majority of games in the digital world are simply just licenses that these companies have control of.

Right now I use Google One (G-Drive, Photos, etc) on a 200 GB plan because I share this with a really good friend of mine who needs Google Drive storage, and with this I get a VPN on my phone as included with the plan. I also would use iCloud+ on a 50 GB plan merely for backup and the other really useful features such as Hide My Email and Private Relay. Also I would store pretty important data on my iCloud as I do have Advanced Data Protection on which essentially end to end encrypts my iCloud data which is really useful.

I appreciate it, thanks for posting.

I believe not at the moment and it was just redirect exploits so we should be fine. It was only an admin's account that got compromised.

Can you add "Why YSK" to the start of your text body? This is for readability purposes as stated in Rule 2.

For readability purposes, can you add "Why YSK:" and include the reason for this post in accordance to rule 2?

Oh man, I usually start off "small" with unlimited money and make suburbs, gradually to high density. Then at some point I'll be like "oh man I should build a great big urban center!" and realize how performance-taxing it is!

Most of the time I just roam around in my city and watch cars move by.

A post from r/apple explaining why they were forced to reopen their subreddit after planning to close indefinitely.

Quotes from the r/apple announcement:

Reddit’s asshole CEO u/spez made it clear that Reddit was not backing down on their changes but assured users that apps or tools meant for accessibility will be unharmed along with most moderation tools and bots. While this was great to hear, it still wasn't enough. So along with hundreds of other subreddits including our friends over at r/iPhone, r/iOS, r/AppleWatch, and r/Jailbreak, we decided to stay private indefinitely until Reddit changed course by giving third-party apps a fair price for API access.

Now you must be wondering, “I’m seeing this post, does that mean they budged?” Unfortunately, the answer is no. You are seeing this post because Reddit has threatened to open subreddits regardless of mod action and replace entire teams that otherwise refuse. We want the best for this community and have no choice but to open it back up — or have it opened for us.

The City of Houston activates their heat emergency plan, providing resources for a number of the population to take shelter from the heat. The article provides many addresses of air-conditioned shelters that people can seek refuge in. It also lists some important guidelines that people are highly recommended to follow.

  • Increase your water consumption during the high heat, however, avoid caffeine, alcohol, or sugary drinks as they may cause the loss of body fluid.
  • Go outside if needed in the early morning or evening to avoid high heat. Outdoor workers will need to drink high amounts of water and gradually increase heat exposure if unaccustomed to being in a hot environment. Also, wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing when outside!
  • DO NOT LEAVE ANYONE IN A PARKED VEHICLE! No matter if the window is cracked, etc.
  • Wear sun protection when outside to reduce the risk of sunburn.
  • Take frequent cool baths or showers if your home is not air-conditioned.

"A throbbing headache, red, hot, and dry skin (no longer sweating), extremely high body temperature (above 103°), nausea or vomiting, confusion, loss of consciousness and a rapid, strong pulse are signs of heat stroke. If these symptoms occur, call 9-1-1 immediately and try to lower the person’s body temperature until help arrives."
