What caliber are you looking for? The Ruger 10/22 has a takedown model specifically for hiking. But you'd be shooting squirrel.

The scary thing about the magas is the training. Guntube is filled with these nuts doing combat drills and all that. That being said, push comes to shove, most of them are becoming loot drops.
