In your point about the genius talent being wasted on dumb projects, if someone makes an amazing algorithm, people will notice no matter what it was initially used for. I agree that access to academic works is much better than it was and I think with the spread of satellite internet we’re entering a golden age of discovery
BOO! I love using the cruise cars. They have been the most careful with their implementation of the tech out of the companies I’ve seen in SF, only driving passengers at night and slowly increasing their covered area, and riding them is super fun. It’s crazy how Uber drivers and their supporters made fun of taxi drivers as luddites and people standing in the way of progress when they killed the taxi industry, then immediately complain and protest these companies. It’s almost like Taxis cost more because they actually took care of their drivers, then Uber undercut by abusing drivers. Self-driving taxis are clearly the only real path forward for the industry.
The Indian space program is crazy impressive. It’s such a shame about the mission which failed a while back
Is anything replacing it?
Well, no shit… Also, if I paid you $100 for you to mow my lawn and then you donated all $100 to my least favorite political campaign it wasn’t my money you donated anymore, it was your money. That’s how transactions work…
To give them the slightest benefit of the doubt, if the truck is very large/long they may do this to not interfere with the parking lot. Annoying for pedestrians, but somewhat considerate
