Au contraire! With a three character month, period separation isn't needed, and the date is shorter. (Admittedly there's likely to be a language translation issue, depending on audience.)

I don't know if SCAN considered obtaining V-chip encoding, which would've cost close to $2k that year for encoding equipment; perhaps their license forbade such encoding.
StreetComplete is intended for local, on-the-ground surveying only. Editing remotely is not supported, and will result in problems.
(I'm not sure whether you're editing remotely vs reminiscing during in-person visits, phrasing is slightly ambiguous.)

Starting back in May, OpenStreetMap went through a transition to require OAuth 2.0 for authentication. Some software didn't get updated until close to the deadline. In particular, OsmAnd was updated around February with release later. Your January version lacked this required update.
