+MLB banning the infield shift so shitty one-dimensional hitters wouldn't get punished for not being able to poke the ball to the opposite field.

It's an odd story at first read, including this bit:

Her father, Sky Roberts, commented on the post and said: “Virginia my daughter, I love you and [am] praying for you to get the correct treatment to live a long and healthy life.”

I pulled down Librewolf this morning. The only issue so far is having to tweak a setting to get the Proton VPN Firefox extension working.

The Eagles’ average of 36.3 points per game in the playoffs does not break the per-game record set by those [1994] 49ers, who averaged 43.7 points per game during their three-game postseason run.

All NFL season records should be per game at this point.

And I say that as a total Eagles/Saquon stan.

I son't think it affects the cap hit. I just wanted Haslem to have to foot the entire bill himself for this debacle.

My only regret is that insurance will pick up the tab and it's not coming out of Haslem's pocket.

Some people are fans of the Philadelphia Eagles. But many, many more people are NOT fans of the Philadelphia Eagles. This 2024 Defector NFL team preview is for those in the latter group.

Everyone hated this team. The fans hated them. The analytics hated them. The betting public hated them. Best of all (for me), they all hated one another. And they still do, thanks to this fella!

What did you think of his appearance?

"Greenwood's behaviour is unspeakable, unacceptable," Marseille Mayor Benoit Payan told French radio station RMC on Tuesday. "Hitting his wife ... I saw images that deeply shocked me. Massacring his wife in this way is unbecoming of a man and he cannot have his place on this team.

"The values of OM and Marseille are anything but that in fact. It's a shame. I will ask [Marseille president] Pablo Longoria not to recruit Greenwood. I don't want my club to be covered with the shame of someone who hits his wife."

One of our core jobs as a union is to improve the overall working conditions for our players, which includes the daily experience of players at the team facilities away from the lights and cameras.

1,706 of our players provided information to share with one another about their current club, to not only help them make important career decisions, but also help raise standards across the league.

Our goals were to highlight positive clubs, identify areas that could use improvement, and highlight best practices and standards. To learn more about the background of this initiative, read a note from President JC Tretter here.

A team meeting with teenage soccer players isn’t normally something to make news but this particular event, held in 200-plus capacity event space at Red Bull Arena with every player from the club’s top under-12 to under-17 teams, was a little different.

Barkley now beats the franchise tag number and has a maximum average-per-year salary of $15.833 million, which would be second highest for a running back in NFL history.

"I fulfilled a lifelong dream by making it to the NFL. But what I didn't know at the time was how much of an honor and privilege it would be to represent the city of Philadelphia and the Eagles organization for the next 12 seasons," Cox wrote in a statement posted to Instagram on Sunday.

For about 20 minutes there, Monday's Tottenham-Chelsea clash looked like it might be a special one. Tottenham bounded out of the gate harnessing all the momentum the team has built up during what has been probably the Premier League's most impressive start to the season. Though Chelsea couldn't contain Spurs' powerful attacks, the Blues were able to bomb forward in the other direction with their own fleet of speedsters. Mix all of that with the White Hart Lane (sic) crowd's rocking energy, and it made for a positively electric atmosphere right from the opening whistle.

“While the failure of San Francisco’s generative AI blockchain-powered autonomous 5G smoothie bot may be splashy, in no way is it a bellwether for downtown."

Republicans dropped Rep. Jim Jordan on Friday as their nominee for House speaker, making the decision during a closed-door session after the hard-edged ally of Donald Trump failed badly on a third ballot for the gavel.

The blocked-House impasse deepening, Republicans have no realistic or workable plan to unite the fractured GOP majority, elect a new speaker and return to the work of Congress that has been languishing since hard-liners ousted Kevin McCarthy at the start of the month.

[BGN] Britain Covey has won me over (www.bleedinggreennation.com)

I’m not asking for a touchdown on every return but I am looking for some excitement. I’m looking for someone who can change games for us! Enter Devon Allen, a world class sprinter who broke a huge return in preseason. Sure, it’s rare to have an actual kickoff return these days but if he did well last night as the kick returner, maybe he could take over punt return duties and we’d have our guy. There was only one problem with my plan…Britain f***in’ Covey.

“This is the type of experience I want the guys to have and for us to have as a group to help us grow,” [Postecoglou] said. “You don’t grow by being in the shade; you need to stick your head up and see the sun.”
