Trtl is the only thing that has worked for me.

Healthy, open discussion contributes to a reduced need for parental controls and monitoring, but paired together parents have more than enough to help their kids develop into fully functioning humans.

You make it sound like without strict monitoring 24/7 kids will turn into porn addicts and lose all sense of all other facets of life.

The problem is that far right Catholic types won't touch the subject on a personal level, and will try to abuse government to save themselves from what shouldn't be but is an uncomfortable conversation.

So abrasive. What you said is not in competition with the parent comment, so why the "no"? You mean to say "yes and" because we need both user engagement and longevity.

I love the idea of Lemmy itself being FOSS but individual instances and apps being a competitive marketplace of for profit businesses.

That way profitable entities with skin in the game can contribute back to the core, as can anyone, while ensuring the communities exist on servers that actually have some kind of monetization.

The hard work is so appreciated.

Is that as rampant in modern TV? I recall Community basically making product placement the plot in a few episodes. Subway, Honda, etc.

Yep, was thinking "I've been on the roof of that" and definitely BotW.

Even just knocking the transparency of those parts down would clean up the UI but agree that it doesn't need to be front and center at all, tuck it into the post view itself

Longest farewell tour the world has ever seen.

Not complaining though, glad people have had many chances to catch a show.

And time for the Lemmy apps to mature, which is happening at a staggering rate.

The people here now are most willing to deal with the friction but as the ecosystem matures and the content grows, I would expect word of mouth to help maintain some steady growth even with no additional Reddit drama.
