Reaching A.G.I. could also reshape OpenAI’s business. When that declaration is made, Microsoft loses its rights to use OpenAI’s technology, according to the investment contract it signed with OpenAI. If OpenAI severs its ties to Microsoft, it could consider partnerships with other tech giants.

Already, OpenAI’s for-profit company has used this potential declaration as leverage against Microsoft — warning that if Microsoft will not agree to better terms, the nonprofit might issue this declaration and void their entire agreement, according to a person familiar with the company’s negotiations.

That's pretty messed up. So whenever OpenAI says they've achieved AGI it's just a gonna be a lie.

Wow almost 9 years old, but I hadn't seen this before so thanks for posting.

Socks are always a good stocking stuffer. Also candy, bathroom products, cards, etc.

Albertsons will no longer be merging with Kroger, and is instead suing them for not doing enough to get regulatory approval.

About 70 percent of Ukraine's population uses Telegram as their main source of news, but the government is worried that the app is being used as a method of disinformation and spying by Russia. They are trying to pivot to apps like Signal instead, but it is difficult to break the habit of such a majority of the country.

Carplay does indeed work once you plug the phone into the car. But, it doesn't seem to support the "carplay home screen" where you see the map in one half and your music in the other. It always boots me back to google maps there, which is annoying and will probably prevent me from using this in the car much. The car icon also moves in frames at a time, is often behind where I am, and the voice assistant's voice sounds very outdated and unpleasant. Hopefully it gets better over time.

I wasn't sure the best community on slrpnk to post this; but this one seemed pretty applicable.

This hasn't happened to me but probably because my computer doesn't support Windows 11 (it doesn't support TPM)

Macs also make you put your password in all the time for updates, installs, etc. Laymen seem to use macs just fine

That's fair. So you don't think people should have the choice?

It just seems like it's antithetical to all the reasons we made weed legal. People are going to do it anyways, might as well make it regulated and collect tax on it. I don't smoke tobacco but I just think making it illegal won't change anything. Let people make their own decisions, you know?

Legalizing weed but banning tobacco makes no sense to me. I hope this doesn't pass.

I don't have an answer to your specific question, but honestly I think learning to subscribe to a community is a really important "tutorial" on using lemmy/reddit. Otherwise they might not understand how to get to each one. You also could just have them look at the local feed so they wouldn't even need subscriptions.

I personally haven't used it yet but I believe you can do all this with Matrix (choose your client - probably Element).

Seems to be mainly because Bluesky is just a better user experience.

Changes in terms of service regarding AI (artificial intelligence), changes in the block feature and the presence of so many bot-like ‘impression zombie’ accounts are viewed negatively by Japanese users

But, X is still incredibly important in Japan and Bluesky isnt a serious threat to it culturally right now.

X is still a major, major news source for Japanese users, so it really won't slow down anytime soon. Newer platforms like Threads or Bluesky really don't have any meaningful adoption or use for brand marketing in Japan — yet

Hi everyone. I recently downloaded Organic Maps and am interested in trying it out as an alternative to Google Maps. However, when I went into my CarPlay settings in my phone to put the app in a good location, it is not listed. I did some googling and it seems like Organic Maps should support CarPlay. Just checking for confirmation on that. Thanks!
