I was in the US Navy and you would be surprised at how many people will say things like that and eat at chili's or whatever else when there is something perfectly good and new (to you) to try. Just never understood why some of the people I served with insulated themselves from seeing and experiencing new things.

Pretty much. There is good sense in teaching a standard to ensure communication is possible, but language can and does evolve. We should allow the changes to happen and document them for future language nerds.

Same. We are allowed to carry knives in to work so I carry a work knife in and it never sets the thing off, but my laptop in my backpack does every single day.

I'm 40 and I grew up listening to rap mostly and metal. I grew up in an era where, at least where I lived, there was this "I listen to everything but rap and country" attitude. There is really great music everywhere you look. It took me a while to look at country to realize what I was missing, though, so I guess I was a part of the problem.

For the hypervisor I recommend either Proxmox or XCP-ng. XCP-ng is technically a better hypervisor, but I personally use Proxmox because I like the UI.

For the NAS OS, I use and recommend TrueNAS Scale. You can run Docker containers on it. All this being said, I've never used Unsaid so I don't know how they compare.

Out of curiosity, why move from OMV? I was thinking about trying it out for a second NAS.

I am using an OPNsense Qotom MiniPC as a firewall/router. I have three Zyxel Wireless APs that I flashed with OpenWRT. I also have two Zyxel switches (8 and 24 port) that I also flashed with OpenWRT. And lastly, I have two Netgear R7000s, also with OpenWRT, that are glorified smart switches. I am very happy with my setup. It works like a champ!

What if I want no taxes for the lower class lower taxes for the middle class and small business but much higher taxes on the upper class and large corporations, a very strong military, less but stronger corporate regulation with more teeth, to fund public works and social services with the taxes we bring in, a free and equal society with no hierarchical systems or bigotry, freedom of speech and strong privacy laws with certain restrictions on speech (calls to violence, etc...), very strong unions, a near complete elimination of wall street, and a fair justice system that doesn't target minorities as prey? Also, guns are fine for self defense in my opinion. Which side do I fall on?

Edit: So if you will read my posts below I talk about how going against groupthink just makes you enemies of the group. Then the group started down voting me down below. I'm really not worried about fake internet points. I just want to make sure that everyone that downvoted me is well aware that my point is well and truly proven. A difference of opinion is not welcome. Even, and especially, if that opinion is, "Stop letting the group think for you. Examine each issue as a separate issue and make fair and reasoned decisions."

Do you need their permission to distribute that art?

What I have installed:

From Obtanium:

  • Most Fossify Apps
  • Nextcloud
  • Material Files
  • Immich
  • DAVx & ICSx (nextcloud contacts and calendar sync)
  • DNS66
  • Jellyfin
  • Spotube

From FDroid (really droidify from various repositories)

  • FUTO Voice Input
  • Breezy Weather
  • K-9
  • Libera Reader
  • FFUpdater
  • Joplin

The list is massive and I'm on mobile and hate tiny keyboards. I can finish the list later if you/y'all are interested. The only thing that I actively use that is not FOSS on my phone is Google Messages, which I guess is a bit hypocritical, but its too good. Just the ability to react to messages makes it worth it for me.

I also highly recommend Grayjay. It is the best (IMHO) YouTube replacement. It is cross service, like I have odysee, nebula, youtube, and various peertube instances added as sources.

As far as what apps to watch out for, someone mentioned Simple Mobile Tools. Otherwise, I would stay away from apps that are not being updated anymore or are otherwise way too old.

So without knowing much about you setup, I would say that there is a cronjob set to run in the background at 3am. You can enter the docker shell and check crontab and see what is scheduled to run. crontab -e to edit for the current user. crontab -l to check the list of configured tasks. Keep in mind that it is by user so any user may be the one with the cron configured, I suppose. It is also possible that the cron is set up on the docker host as well. So maybe try to check crontab on the host as well.

Hopefully, this is helpful. I am not an expert.

I am using Grayjay. It has a number of different services that you can use, including Peertube, YouTube, Odyssey, Twitch, Nebula and more. The only thing that it is missing IMO is an auto-enqueue feature. It has the best UI of any of these apps that I have tried.

Newpipe is good as well.
