Your smartphone is already an always connected device, and you can manually do periodical backups on external drives which is a good practice in any case.

You can also set which device rules the file modification (sent or receive only as a folder).

I think it's ok for most of the people. If you have a tons of precious files to save I can agree with you, but I think this type of "off-grid self-hosting" is just the future of personal data management.

Don't forget Syncthing, I always suggest it first since it doesn't require a server or advanced knowledge to work.

You can selfhost Syncthing without having a server, using your daily devices.

We need more noob-friendly systems in this direction. Better sharable guidelines to get started into this approach.

Oh, I'm sure we're all great parents here. I applaud you for admitting a mistake and having the humility to ask for advice, both excellent parenting skills in my opinion.

I believe the answer is always culture. Once better videogames are discovered it's likely that they will hardly go back to the bad ones (so that the problem of prohibitionism - which is only a temporary solution - can be solved).

  • A good Invidious player with locally stored datas.
  • AntennaPod fork with improved local music management (tags).
  • A dedicated good PeerTube app.

I also was an user but Aves Libre is a very good replace if you don't mind the video editing aspect. But yeah, that app also probably deserve a good fork.

I'm searching for a good film about it.

I recently readed more about it, and the association with anarchy was immediate.

It is possible to estimate?

Fresh Void install: looks like I have an old issue with flacs where songs are interrupted for a second or less. I came from Arch where this bug was fixed after a recent update to some package (maybe pipewire or flac itself?).

I've noticed many Void packages are not in the latest version like on Arch, so maybe I can use a flatpak or other to solve? Thanks for any help on this!

[edit] Looks like the fix is on flac 1.4.2, here the changelogs, Void version is still at 1.3.4

I've "partially solved" the issue using my fav player thru flatpak

And what do you actually use? I know the answer is probably self-hosting but maybe there are other solutions for a decent privacy.

My nearest way is using my steam controller but isn't comfy to navigate Netflix or other streaming websites.

I tend to prefer "file centered" apps, there's some cool one you'd use with Syncthing? My favourite is KeePassDX; I would love a notes app with a 'material you' UI.

I'm playing uni heroes with multiple Crests, feels good, nothing broken for now.

I know, the platform isn't ready, the platform needs more creators, the platform has technical improvements to do...We could have said the same for Lemmy before the Reddit blackout, the same for Mastodon on Twitter.

The main limitation I see at the moment are PeerTube instances, badly communicating, from what I've been able to realize, and there are no reference instances as it was for Lemmy.

A genuine discussion about the best FLOSS decentralized system to share poop emojis and videocall your dog.

Let's face it, the MBTI has its own shortcomings and many of them are additions to Jung's thought. However, I believe it's the most pop system for introducing fundamental topics.
