This is such fantastic news!

On the Sydney waterway, the River class and Parramatta River class currently run on Scania diesel motors. However, they've been designed specifically with retrofitting battery-electric systems. I am very hopeful that as the motors reach the end of their service life in the next couple of years that they make the leap to electric.

I worry that the benefits of electric cars as a whole are being undercut by the size of new ones. I'm not saying SUVs don't have a place, I am saying that perhaps a standard-sized sedan is potentially more comfortable, more energy efficient, and lighter. This is a criticism of the car industry at the moment as a whole, but I do not understand this obsession with big, high cars.
