It may be easier to get a rifle or a shotgun for hunting purposes. Really depends on location, but this might be the easiest and fastest way to legally get your hands on a firearm.

My argument is that the shift from agrarian to industrial economy is the primary cause. It triggered all the things often cited in these articles, such as education and the cost of having babies. I would argue, that those are only secondary factors affecting birth rates, but not the initial trigger.

At the moment, these batteries will be available in some really expensive applications, but I guess eventually they will become available in more common products as well. Hopefully, one day solid state batteries will be about as common as current NMC batteries are.

Some interesting details:

”Samsung’s oxide solid-state battery technology boasts an energy density of 500 Wh/kg, nearly double the 270 Wh/kg density of mainstream EV batteries.”

The article doesn’t say what kind of battery chemistry they are using, but at least the gravimetric energy density is impressive.

Let’s say you read books in the library to develop your writing skills, and then write your own medieval fantasy book. Even if you include magical rings, elves and dwarves, I don’t think anyone will sue you just because your story is clearly inspired by a specific book. The key is to avoid making s word for word copy.

So, apparently this is like the first Li-ion batteries of Sony cameras back in the day. Neat technology, only one company was doing it, but soon everyone else started doing it too. About 10 years later, Li-ion batteries were absolutely everywhere.

That is a valid point. Google actually provides plenty of utility while also spying on everyone. However, Meta provides a little bit of something to some individuals, but mostly just a whole bunch of nothing to most people, while still spying on everyone.

One of the most annoying thing are the restaurants that can’t be bothered to make a real website. Instead, they just think that making a FB page is good enough. I’ve even seen some pages that ask me to log in to check the opening hours of that restaurant. Well, what if i don’t even have a FB account? I guess, I’ll just walk to that other restaurant that actually has a proper website.

Facebook: “Hold my beer. I’ll show you who’s the real cancer of the internet.”

This is the way.

Thanks for taking the time to write a thoughtful answer. Especially that historical perspective was interesting.

I just thought that AI music is going to be like the ways clothes are manufactured today. Sure, you could get your clothes from a big factory, and many people do. At the same time, there are still many people who make clothes by hand just for fun. There are also some who make clothes the old way and sell them to millionaires who can afford to appreciate that production method and the quality that comes with it.

My guess is, the same will happen to music industry. Most people who wear cheap t-shirts, will also listen to cheap AI pop. Some other people with the money to hire musicians will do so, just like they’ve done so far. At the same time, many people will also continue to enjoy playing instruments or knitting wool scarfs just because it’s fun.

Bonus question: How do you see AI affecting music production in the future? Sites like Suno can already produce some sort of music, but will that sort of technology enhance or threaten your work? Is this just like the time when the spinning jenny revolutionized the textile industry?
