It's rhe historical racial connotation, it's similar to why black face is racist but whiteface isn't. White people are the majority both Japanese and black people are minorities that have been historically disenfranchised by white people.

Get sideberry, it allows you to "sleep" unused tabs

Conservation wise there is a very big reason to slow down the release cycle

Speaking as an American, I hate how our government runs, there are tons of issues with it, and I do what I can't to help fix it. Like the majority of us are not happy, but we have not collectively done these things, most of the terrible things that have happened in America are the machinations of a wealthy elite who have been able to shape voting districts and policy thanks to continually laxing regulations and unfettered capitalism.

I was just born here, I didn't make this place. This place isn't what I want it to be. Just line any other country, we are all just people trying to live and get something out of life. With the way the education system is here most people don't even realize how ass backwards things are because "that's how it's always been" for them. It's upsetting. But it doesn't make them bad people, just naive usually. This is why things like intersectionality and critical race theory are so important and this is why the far right in this country is pushing against them. The issues in America boil down to race and class based inequality, intentional defunding of public programs, and then miseducation of the populous on these issues and how they actually affect everyone. I promise you those of us who understand all this are doing everything we can do reverse course. Personally everything happening here weighs on me heavily and I often forget to enjoy what's right in front of me because the big picture is so scary. It's stressful as fuck.

Sync has ads, unless you do a one time purchase, I don't think I paid for boost but I could be wrong, either way, I have no issue supporting developers. Just because something is paid doesn't mean it's inherently bad, if they're making a living making these apps and they are dedicated to making them better and better I have no issue contributing financially. They are the best two apps. It's a one time purchase, not a subscription. You can continuously support if you like but it's not mandatory. And yes they're closed source, which isn't ideal but I understand the want to protect their code if it's their livelihood and they've put so much effort into them.

Boost and sync definitely seem the smoothest and most features rich, boost has better search though

THAT'S WHATS DRAINING MY BATTERY! I've been trying to figure it out, I knew it was draining quicker because of that but never really our two and two together

I'm looking for a photo viewer thay allows you to view local storage and connect network storage

But I also want to be able to move and copy to and from network storage and local storage

And modify (ie delete, move files, etc) the files in network storage

I have fstop currently, but thay allows only read only access to network storage

Anyone have any recs?

I can set up most network file sharing standards so that's not really a limiting factor

Just about anything to do with comments that tries to fetch data from the server will crash the app if comments aren't working

Lemmy.World is rapidly growing, maybe it’s time for some holsters to group together and distribute Thay load to other instances.

Maybe custom ui logic could be made for the sign up page that auto signs you up for an instance that is an official sister instance to the main lemmy.world. it could tell the user why ( to reduce load on a single server) and have a choice for the user to opt out.

Just a thought. I mean I made a new account because I was having trouble posting on my .world account, and I can't even login to jerboa still.

IMO I think in order to fully utilize part what makes the fediverse great, this should be supported natively. Thoughts? I’d love to hear from the admins and community mods.
