I feel this. This probably stems from childhood issues and a string of failed relationships but I just can't be comfortable around really any social groups I've had for very long. Functionally I'm great, people seem to like talking to me and want my company. So we'll do a few get together sessions and then my fatigue will make me slowly fizzle out. It really sucks.

On the brightside though, I do love my own company and have made peace with having a lot of holidays and special occasions on my own or with the cat.

Looks like that little guy is thriving! Good on you OP.

I'm not a big fan of clickbait titles on Lemmy. OP since you read the article, you'd be doing the community a favor by changing the title or adding a summary for some quality discourse.

This is just so awful. There are other sites for these textile dumps as well, like Ghana.

I've tried shifting away from fast fashion by getting into second-hand markets, but even then I don't think that's enough.

I'm hearing more and more of the PTO term lately as well but still see some companies that categorize sick days in a separate non-carryover bucket. Vacation days may be a more generational thing that is phasing out I still hear that term (it's in some of the posts here), and then see it in articles such as this one so it's still out there conveying the wrong idea.

I kinda wish each link post came with a post bot option. Back in the other place that starts with "r" there'd be hundreds of first comment strings where it was obvious that the article was not read. Titles are likely to be sensationalized and triggering to get you to read the article and the ads. If the content is posted up front the commentary just seems more rich and everyone is spared the ad-saturation.

I really hate the term "vacation days." I'm not going to Disneyland everytime I'm out of the office. Most of the time its stuff like having the HVAC technician over during their 4-hour service call window; taking my family member to have surgery; recovering from the flu/covid; taking a mental health day or catch-up day for weekday-only errands.

This might be where some of the missing 34% are not agreeing for more days. The label is part of the problem. Hell I want more vacation days so that I CAN squeeze an actual vacation in there.

It's directions on how to not get mugged.

How to not get stabbed: "No thank."

Yeah he's going to exploit the shit out of that mugshot. Bet it'll be on the cover of his newest memoir. Do they let people smile in their mugshots nowadays? I'm seriously hoping they don't at Fulton.

I can agree with this. Assholes from all walks.

Fully agree with this. I'm currently interviewing and have reached the "reward phase" where 3-4 companies are offering me salary & benefits packages. I'll likely be taking the lowest package with the farthest drive because that work interests me the most and offers interesting travel opportunities. Just a little heartburn on the salary though, but still more than what I'm making now by 15%. But yeah there's a lot to weigh out.

No noticeable issues for this or other instances from mobile for me over the past couple of hours. I'm on Voyager.
