People in Hawaii are deadly serious about their Spam. It is a high-theft item so places like Walmart typically lock them up.

Let me tell you how much I love to play the game of choices that I have to make very publicly and abruptly on the roads... Ashamed to say, but 9 times out of 10 I'll make the dangerous, but more convenient one.

So to share a little more, the $15-25 per day spend isn't the entire food spend picture for me. I typically will have at least 3-5 social/splurge events per month that will range between $60-$120. I live in a HCOL area so my housing cost is $3500/mo. If we calculate on the higher side if things (5 days × $120, and 25 days × $25), I spend about 35% of my housing cost on food so it is significant. However, it's also the main source of my social entertainment so I justify my spending based on both that and eating necessity. I try to keep my daily food spend on the lower/reasonable side because I know I'll have my splurge days.

While I can see your point, I think it's a chicken vs egg scenario. Major changes to infrastructure don't come about unless theres a need to be legally compliant, or there's a societal change driving the need. I really do think that if half of my neighborhood started biking in some capacity on a regular basis there'd be bike racks on store fronts in a matter of weeks, followed by the necessary infrastructure change. But I don't necessarily see it working the other way as quickly. Trust me though, I'd rather the infrastructure changed first as you said because it's kind of a nightmare riding around safely in some parts of my town.

Sucks to say but hopefully some climate change policy will eventually incentivize by law to have businesses to accomodate more things on 2-wheels.

Honestly did not know that. I guess this makes sense with cars pulling up to turn onto roadways whereas on the roads you're already visible.

Would love to use bike lanes more, but also hope they're at least consistent and have enough of a space buffer from vehicle traffic to feel safe.

Yeah I've discovered the non bike-friendly stores and venues in my area recently since getting an ebike in an attempt to be more eco-friendly. I absolutely hate it and I'll just go to another store - I'm not locking my bike a block away. Tangential rage: bike paths or sidewalks that abruptly end, pushing me out onto a 45mph road in order to continue on my way. Shitty businesses and garbage city planning to blame.

The base Thai chili sauce sounds intriguing! If you want some alternative toppings for a more authentic Thai taste I recommend roasted shallots & chillies, minced Thai beef jerky, and thai basil all over that bad boy. Looks great though as a tasty but healthy pizza option for sure.

I'm the same way. I think it's just a dry meat overall so it's texture is jarring against cheese and sauce. Shrimp would be a much better option!

YES. I leave anything deep fried to the pros and their kitchens for cleanup.

Found the same results from eating out! A lot of times I'll just have the small leftover portion from lunch for my dinner.

Current grocery prices have thoroughly discouraged me from any potential savings that may be had. My go to cheap homemade meal are chicken enchiladas and the 3 cans of enchilada sauce I needed were $4 apiece. $45 to make enchiladas all said and done, but more if we include gas and time. I could've gotten an overloaded enchilada plate from the Mexican restaurant down the street for $13. So completely agree with you on restaurant pricing seeming to be less affected than grocery pricing.
