The FOSS and open ecosystem is a deep rabbit hole to jump down. Its an important one to be sure, but its also important to know that there is no really feasible way for lay folks to fully pass any sort of purity test without swapping to Linux, using a nonstandard mobile OS, etc. These are all achievable things to do, but they come with significant tradeoffs that require people to be very tech savvy.

I'd say it would be good to learn more about open source as an idea, and then take consistent, small measures to wean yourself out of the totally closed Apple ecosystem. But dont beat yourself up - the most important change is the one upstairs...IRL impacts will flow from that over time.

I'm going to swap out my drop bars for some Orange Velo Crazy Bars sometime in the fall or next spring I think so I can get one of those up-front kids seats for my kiddo

That isn't bike infrastructure...that's homicidal government negligence. You should invite a few city councilors or transportation bureaucracts to go for a bike ride with you sometime...I agree with the other commenter who suggested finding another route. Its totally worth the longer ride to miss this death trap

Wow that's such a beautiful landscape shot! Happy you get to ride in that place - seems like a pretty great time

Just watched You've Got Mail the other day and was super depressed at how the movie was just like "yep, the big bookstore put the little shop out of business but what can you do because capitalism!"

Anyways, happy to see a similar bookstore in NYC have a unionized workforce ❤️
