It's definitely still chugging along, although I will point out that the sub numbers now include not only modern WoW players but also Classic players. If the 7 million number is accurate, that's 7 million across all WoW versions, not just modern WoW.

Same. A friend and I were excited to play together like we did in D3, but we barely managed to finish the campaign. It's on the shelf for now unless/until we hear the team turned things around.

I know the article says it was published one day ago, but the author must've missed an update or something. The Hildir's Request update in August 2023 also gave us world modifiers; we no longer need a mod to portal metal and other restricted items!

Other than they ongoing payments for games I continue to play (hello, World of Warcraft), most of my money now goes toward games from smaller studios that aren't so expensive. Valheim, Timberborn, and many others are well below $70, and now I get to try games from other creators while still affording the couple of big spenders I enjoy.

Nice! I know there was a Spirit of Competition pet as well that recently became available again via the August 2023 trading post; I wonder if they would leave the tabard as an exclusive now that the pet was brought back around. It's nice that some of the retired items are coming back, but I can also see value in some of the event-based ones remaining unavailable.

For any transmog collectors who also have Amazon Prime, there’s a new Prime Gaming reward available through December 26 for the Tabard of Fury that was formerly available as a TCG item.

I see your point - I'm also happy with the current version. That said, I did purchase the app with the expectation of continued development. I'm not demanding major weekly updates in perpetuity or anything, but I don't feel it's unreasonable to want reassurance that the app you paid for hasn't been abandoned a few months after release.

(To be clear, I mentioned in another comment that I know this is normal for Sync and we will likely get more updates down the road. I can just also understand OP's concern.)

I have no concrete answers, but this was fairly common with the Sync for Reddit app as well. We'd go several months without updates before they'd resume for a while and then drop off again.

I'm relatively confident the same will happen here, so updates will probably return soon^TM .

True, if it turned into a situation where you had to sub with money for a month every time you wanted to redeem a token or something, that would definitely lessen the value for me. I'd still say it was worth it because I could use the tokens for expansions and other games, but not everyone may have the same opinion.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 9 months ago

The WoW token wasn't introduced until WoD, so if you played that long ago it wouldn't have been an option. If you're ever looking to jump in again though, it's definitely a useful system if you like to make gold in game.

Free trials can't farm gold anyway because they're capped to 1k gold, so this really does only impact bot accounts for the most part. There's likely a small number of people who use tokens because they otherwise couldn't afford to play, but I expect that's not terribly common.

As someone who uses gold to buy WoW tokens for both game time and shop credit to make other Blizzard purchases, I have a hard time getting upset over this. I've been playing the game without spending money for years, and tokens are also how I buy both WoW expansions and other Blizzard games. Asking me to pay money for a month of sub time every few years seems reasonable, especially if this change makes it even the slightest bit annoying/harder for bot accounts.

That might be better, but I'd still worry about people rep farming (for lack of a better term). Any time you give people a score, title, or other personal metric, you run the risk of people posting to influence that metric rather than to post for the sake of contributing content.

It's possible the good such a system could do would outweigh the bad, but it will definitely always have elements of both.

We get a mount this time! If you have Amazon Prime, there’s a new Prime Gaming reward available through November 28 for the Armored Bloodwing mount that was formerly available as a cash shop purchase but was removed from the store several years ago.

The URL for the news article on Blizzard's site is broken at the moment, but Wowhead has the details and I can confirm that the mount can be claimed on Prime Gaming and shows up in-game.

The in-game micro holiday is inspired by a charity event hosted every October on Scarlet Crusade-US. People make level 1 gnomes to run from New Tinkertown to Booty Bay, and the funds raised go to support the development of a breast cancer vaccine.

If you've never joined the event, I recommend it! It's always great fun to watch a herd of gnomes dodge murlocs and tigers on their way down to Booty Bay.

They may not be the first animal you'd expect to find in this community, but the rubber ducky isopods in SerpaDesign's new video definitely made me say "awww."

Pet collectors, we get a new (old) pet! If you have Amazon Prime, there’s a new Prime Gaming reward available through October 24 for the Zipao Tiger pet that was formerly available as a Recruit-a-Friend reward.

There's a new pirate themed highland drake customization available only during Pirates' Day from Dread Captain DeMeza in Booty Bay for 50k gold. There's nothing to suggest that this won't appear during the holiday next year as well, but the event only lasts for one day.

For any transmog collectors who also have Amazon Prime, there’s a new Prime Gaming reward available through September 28 for the Tabard of Brilliance that was formerly available as a TCG item.

Is there a setting that will allow me to view upvotes and downvotes as separate numbers rather than one combined score? This is the one setting in Jerboa that I can't seem to find in Sync. Jerboa:

Sync:

For any WoW pet collectors who also have Amazon Prime, there's a new Prime Gaming reward for the silver pig pet that was formerly available as part of the Recruit a Friend program. The promotion runs through August 24, and if you're also a Diablo 4 player there's another promotion ending next week for the Brackish Fetch mount armor.
