You may have heard about an incident from the other day where a user uploaded some baaaaaad images. I’m worried that the responsibility for hosting that stuff could circle back to the nice people running instances, as federated sites are connected that way.

I’m just a garden guy. Here because I wanted to show off pics of my garden with like minded green thumbs. I don’t need to get caught up in any trouble. The other thing is that I have this instance which is mostly just this one community !gardening. We often have only 1 or 0 active users in a day even though many people subscribe and participate from other instances. It’s lovely to have you all come and visit but hosting an instance for myself doesn’t grow corn 🌽.

Special shout out to our most active users Thrawn, Spacebar, editedit, thegiantkorean, David from Space. I have really enjoyed connecting with y’all through my favorite hobby. I will see you on one of the other garden communities I’m sure.

I don’t grow it, but I have had two friends eat them and they described absolutely horrific hallucinations

Did your tomatoes make it?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Sorry I don’t know but I think you can get away with it. You would want to start them probably within 4 weeks, and yes use the row cover.

I hate this and I hate you. Please make more 😊

Ohh it’s hail! I looked at the picture before I read and I was thinking blight. I think it’s going to survive. There’s still plenty of hot summer left. Cut off the dead stuff, give a good dose of fertilizer and keep it watered. Looks like it’s watered now so I think ya it’s going to be fine.

It looks really nice and easy to manage. I’m glad to not have the Bermuda grass here but we have our own issues. Like blackberries and knotweed. Now can you walk through that hoop? And how do you use it? Is there a plastic cover for it? I love how you have opted for food instead of lawn too I wanted to say.

Mushrooms are just so neat. I’ve inoculated a log with oysters but haven’t seen any yet.

Do you really have that much mulch? The other day I was watering and I realized that the bark mulch was hydrophobic and not letting any moisture in at all. Internet said I had applied it too think maybe. So I pulled off most of it. Watered the dirt directly and immediately noticed a change in my plants. I thought bark mulch would be such a benefit but really maybe not. In the veggie beds I only use straw which seems to do a lot better but obviously doesn’t look so great for the flower beds. What kind of mulch do you use and are you having that issue at all?

Fall is a great time to plant these foxglove seeds, that’s Digitalis purpurea. DM me your US address and get some free seeds! There’s no catch. I just love sharing seeds

I am working with a neighborhood organization to improve tree canopy in my urban area. I got involved with my neighborhood association and another org in an effort to build and strengthen my community. I would love to take more action but I’m not sure what or how. Starting to see now that working together with people helps make us more resilient

Should I give it to my veggie seedlings? Should I apply it more than once to veggies? Should I also use all purpose granular fertilizers ?

What would be like a general schedule?

That rose is a climber called Kiss-Me-Kate and it’s so fragrant
